Cool video. Never heard of the different colored sheers for Brutus' second figure, wish he could have shown a close-up of that. Also, wasn't the reason the Tugboat figure was not released pretty much the same as the Rhythm and Blues Valentine Figure? Wasn't it because by the time the figure was to be massed produced Tugboat was already going by Typhoon?

Cool post. I was wondering when that interview was going to pop up. I remember the Brutus shears thing being mentioned here by ZS when he discovered it first. If you look for old threads you can probably find it along w/closeups.

Sorry to “ruin” someone’s post but that was crap interview. Ron Rudat doesn’t care about the wwf hasbro line he only cares about the GI Joe Line. Most of his answers were I don’t know or I can’t remember. Zombie sailor aka Josh I have no regard for what so ever can not stand the guy. I think he’s a fat Jim from American Pie. He makes this big deal out of that Brutus figure, I remember him touting it about as a $10,000 figure at the time when it was first discovered, its a tiny bit of plastic with an extra bit of paint woopdy doo. I give this interview a big fat zero

But being over the top with plastic shears or toys in Genral is creepy. Just collect and move on with your day, this guys life revolves around it. If him and a few others didn't go around hunting these Hasbro employees down and or buying them all up, everyone could buy figures for a decent price.

stop being so ing negative. if the old man doesnt care it doesnt matter - at least we got to hear from him. the guy tried his best at doing an interview which is still better than most of us couldve pulled off. at least hes trying and adding to what was and is still the top line for people 30-40ish.

I cannot say anything negative about him.

I distinctly remember the day I bought my first Hogan and my mate bought Savage (series one). It was 1991, it was his 13th birthday and we had spent the day playing SFII.
The Interviewer looks way too young to have bought Hasbro's in store. What am I missing?

We’re going on 30 years now. We’ve seen unreleased proto pics, RnB Valentine, rumored series lineups...I think we have all the information that there ever was discussed. Why doesn’t someone just write a handbook on these?
Undoubtedly, the Hasbro line is probably the most treasured now. I feel the nostalgia factor has far surpassed LJN and is bigger than any Jakks series could hope to be. We’ve hit the period where the Hasbro line is the most fondly remembered wrestling line. I’d love to see an unofficial handbook complete with interviews, pics, variants ect. Other than that, I’m not interested in interviews with the old employees. They can’t remember much, or don’t want to discuss much. They aren’t fans like us, it was just a job to them, we currently have all the information on the line that we’re gonna get. What more do we want?

There is supposed to be a book coming out. It's in a thread a bit down, think it's still on the first page here.

The Interviewer looks way too young to have bought Hasbro's in store. What am I missing? I was 8 in 1990 and clearly remember going into TRU looking for LJNs as usual and finding Hasbros. Further back I remember shopping for early series LJNs with my parents. Chances are this guy is close in age and had similar memories. I don't figure he's saying he drove to the store and made the purchases himself. That haircut probably takes 8 years off his appearance too 😅

It's odd to watch someone hype the "never before seen" striped Brutus Beefcake shears with such enthusiasm ---- and then have Ron just not care at all I appreciate that ZombieSailor took the time to interview Ron, but the interview felt more like an interrogation. And at almost 30 minutes long, Ron didn't have answers to anything asked. When Zombie started talking about the Tugboat 2up and money it's just a nasty side of collecting that I'm happy to not be a part of. It's this artificial hype that gets people bidding themselves into bankruptcy.

Agreed, you know what all the 2ups, protos and all the extra stuff outside the released collection I can understand him being excited if he's going out to get them for himself or another collector. The only thing I dont care for is and I'm sorry but the proof is out there, is he and a few others like him are 100% the reason why the hasbro prices are way over the top in price. They buy up everything they can of Green Cards, Dustys, and all the figures that were once 80$ to 120$ are now over 200$ to 700$ When you go onto the instagrams of these guys they have 10. 20. 30. of each of these hard to get figures and they are 100% responsible for the inflation because they are forcing it on collectors. It's weird and it's wrong. I get people will buy, but at the same time how about just collect and that's enough. This zombie guy and others take it to another level.

So you blame people that they buy figures? What exactly is the problem? I don't get it. If someone wants to display 100 Dustys in a row, how exatly does he have to explain and justify himself? I really don't get how people think they have the right to blame others for the way they spend their hard earned money. Weird...

They buy hold them, only to t sell them all off 1 by 1 for inflated prices. That to me is trash.
