Am I going crazy or were there more Samus produced than Fatus? I own 2 Samus and no Fatus and only ever see Samu figures for sale online or even if I see figures for sale at a convention or wherever, if they have a Headshrinker, it is never Fatu.
Has anyone else encountered this?

Pretty much equal I guess (after a quick ebay check).

I never noticed it with the Shrinkers, but did notice tons of Scott Steiners for some reason when I was a kid. Stores seemed to be loaded with pegs full of him warming with no Ricks to be seen. I don't know if it was just a weird thing in my area or not.

That whole blue series with the Headshrinkers seemed to be pretty plentiful. It was one of the only Hasbro series I remember seeing constantly on shelves at different stores. Marty, Shawn, Razor, Headshrinkers, Bushwhackers and Giant Gonzalez. All very easy to scoop up back then.
The purple cards weren't too obscure, however I NEVER saw a damn red card in my area which sucked because my collection was sorely missing Luger, Perfect, Bam Bam and Yoko who were all big players at the time. I also really wanted the updated Bret and Taker as well since he came with his coat. Never saw any of them. But yeah, plenty of Samus and Lukes to go around. π

Here in Austria (Vienna) is a big warehouse with vintage stuff. I donβt know how many they have but really really a lot of boxed series 10, Headshrinkers, Bushwakers, Marty Jannetty and the Rockers Tag Team what I saw the last time at my visit in the warehouse. They sell them for 10β¬ per piece, so in my area there is no problem to get this few figures for a good price.

I got my samu when they first came out but it took me ages to get a fatu. I guess sometimes it's just luck as the both seem pretty even now

Luckily got all 6. Never saw them at a major toy store. Never saw the yellow cards at all. Purple and blue were plentiful except Shawn and Razor. At least at Kaybee and department stores. I don't think my Toys R Us ever got anything beyond the wave with Shango and Flair.

It was like series 3 tag teams all over again, could find everyone else but them.

Don't think I ever saw a single one. Worse yet was that I never saw the earlier Bret, Taker, or Mr. Perfect figures which I wanted badly. Then of course, the next 2 series were available in droves and I barely wanted any at the time. I would have wanted the purple Razor and black HBK if I even knew they existed back then, but I was psyched to have the original yellow card releases. Since I could never find Bret or Taker, having those 2 was great. They were all absolute must-haves! Can't say about Samu vs. Fatu as I never cared to buy them as a kid and didn't seek them out. I do remember thumbing through a lot of them, Steiners, and Bushwhacker singles though, all of which I passed on. Tough to say if either had lop-sided availability.

Pretty much what everyone else has said-I never did see the red cards in stores, though my grandmother bought the whole set around my birthday time I think at TRU. I think there were more Samus than Fatus and similar Scott over Rick Steiner. I would still see Scott's into 1995 while no Ricks. Samu and Luke were around into early 1996 while I think Butch and Fatu lasted until mid 1995 if that.

I saw one carded Fatu on UK eBay, based in the UK, the rest were around the world. I just want a loose Fatu, that's all...

The only series that I never saw a single figure from in stores, besides the green carded series, was the yellow carded series. I had to buy all figures from eBay. Did anyone else have this problem with series 7 - the yellow card series?

Did anyone else have this problem with series 7 - the yellow card series? I did until they hit KB Toys and were on sale at 3 for $10. Picked up Razor, Owen, and Kamala, along with 3 more from other series. The only one I can remember for sure was British Bulldog. That was a great day!

What was the deal with the yellow card series? I thought those six guys were some of the coolest at the time (1992-1993) and wanted them so bad. By time the red card series came out, I figured yellow card guys were scrapped like Dick Tracy Blank or Police Academy series 2 seemed to be. When the dark blue cards came out and I saw Razor and Shawn, I figured the yellow card guys would be out, too. NOPE! Never did see them until late 1995 in KB. And Nailz was not part of the ones I found.

I too had 2 Samus as a kid. Only eventually got Fatu when my brother went on an out of state field trip and brought him back

In the UK at least, I think a lot had to do with Argos and Index only stocking Samu. These were hugely popular places to get figures. Especially when less places were stocking figures. I posted a number of scans a while back. Here is Argos but I'll try and find my Index scans.
