I'm intrigued by the match itself, and I'm glad they're doing it, but the announcement segment was one of the most counterproductive and hilariously awful things WWE has done in a while, and that's saying a lot, given that we're only a month removed from "Under Siege."

It's literally just... 'ugh', to me. Knowing it probably won't be more than 20 women which eliminates the chance of surprise entrants, I feel it'll just take up allot more time on the card that other matches could get. If we get a huge shock and someone at the bottom of the list of expected winners, win, then I'll see it as a good thing. But the only person who seems plausible because they've been off TV for a bit, is Becky. But, really... what is the chances of the E' giving Becky the honor of winning the first ever women's rumble?

It's going to be interesting. It shouldn't go an hour like the men's Rumble but more around 45 minutes. I also have the feeling it might be a backdrop to bring Ronda Rousey in.

Too bad Ellsworth got let go, I could totally see him winning this. I could honestly see him still being in this for a comedy spot where everyone gangs up and eliminates him.

Felt the same way about the announcement. Not only did it have the entire female roster essentially cower to Steph (just the latest example of such occurrences I believe), they all rejoiced together as if all the animosity they had amongst themselves suddenly vanished, even though the match pits them all against each other anyway. It was like every time the NXT Horsewomen hugged it out after matches, turned up to 11.

RAW: CHAMPION: Alexa Bliss
1 - Alicia Fox 2 - Asuka 3 - Bayley 4 - Dana Brooke 5 - Mandy Rose 6 - Mickie James 7 - Nia Jax 8 - Paige 9 - Sasha Banks 10 - Sonya Deville
SMACKDOWN: CHAMPION: Charlotte Flair
1 - Becky Lynch 2 - Carmella 3 - Lana 4 - Liv Morgan 5 - Naomi 6 - Natalya 7 - Ruby Riott 8 - Sarah Logan 9 - Tamina
Not Listed Above:
1 - Maryse - RAW - Inactive 2 - Nikki Bella - SMACKDOWN - Inactive 3 - Brie Bella - F/A - Inactive
You take out the Champions, which I did already and that leaves you with 19 Women who can enter a Women's Royal Rumble Match.
Now I doubt they would actually put Lana in it as she is really only working house shows.
Minus two more women to challenge for the Raw/Smackdown Championships at the Royal Rumble PPV itself and you are now left with 16 Women.
Brie has been adamant about making a comeback to WWE at some point in the near future, same with Nikki if you have both return for this match you are now back up to 18 Women.
Give one spot to an NXT talent and the final spot to a "Returning Legend" (Maybe Trish as it was rumored she was in talks to have Mickie's spot against Asuka in NXT before she found out she was pregnant with her second child) and you have a fairly decent roster for a 20 Women Rumble, change the entrance times to both Rumbles to 60 seconds and the both Rumble's shouldn't feel too drawn out.
You could even remove Carmella from the Rumble (have her cash in her MITB contract against either Champion on the show - sets up having the Dual Branded MITB PPV next year) and you can put a second returning legend into the match
You could even have Rhonda Rousey make her debut if she's able to start the build up to the rumored Four Horsewomen v Four Horsewomen match at Mania.

All it does is make the whole thing seem like a giant PR stunt - which it is, but they could at least pretend it isn't.

My TV crapped out Monday night (getting a new one today) so I missed the actual segment. But I just saw a small clip of the announcement. Is Absolution still a thing? They already lost every bit of steam they came in with.
Going back to the characters thread on this board, this segment is exactly what I’m talking about. Absolution was against the rest of the women, but then this announcement gets made and they’re rejoicing and crying with all the other women.
If WWE had told them beforehand, then they could have gotten the direction to react like “Hell yeah. We’re gonna kick all your asses.”

It was like every time the NXT Horsewomen hugged it out after matches, turned up to 11. Absolutely. This wasn't about the women. This was about Stephanie being presented as a pioneer for women. What's funny is, this announcement came off the heels of a main event match that ended in a DQ after 3 minutes. It's not as though they were running low on time, or that the rest of the show wasn't full of filler. They just didn't care enough to give the women a legitimate match in the main event segment. I'm all for giving the women more opportunities and big match ups, but truth be told, there hasn't been a well booked or compelling women's angle since Charlotte and Sasha (and that had its fair share of problems, too.) The "women's revolution" has been a whole lot of telling and very little showing. Yes, they get longer matches on Pay-Per-Views and they're not treated like meat anymore. Aside from that, though, they're still very much secondary or even tertiary acts, and I don't think it needs to be that way.

Asuka either has to win it or she can't be in it. This is what I am thinking also

Let's Look at what we currently have to work with : Apologise in advance if this gets confusing.
RAW 1. Alicia Fox 2. Asuka 3. Bayley 4. Dana Brooke 5. Mandy Rose 6. Mickie James 7. Nia Jax 8. Paige 9. Sasha Banks 10. Sonya Deville
SMACKDOWN 11. Carmella 12. Lana 13. Liv Morgan 14. Naomi 15. Natalya 16. Ruby Riott 17. Sarah Logan 18. Tamina
NXT 19. Aliyah 20. Bianca Belair 21. Billie Kay 22. Kairi Sane 23. Lacey Evans 24. Nikki Cross 25. Peyton Royce 26. Taynara Conti 27. Vanessa Borne (apologise if I am missing anyone from NXT)
INACTIVE / INELIGIBLE 28. Alexa Bliss RAW Women’s Champion 29. Charlotte Flair Smackdown Women’ s Champion 30. Ember Moon NXT Women's Champion 31. Becky Lynch Inactive; Shooting a Movie 32. Maryse Possible ( Last Match Wrestlemania 33); Husband (The Miz) is shooting a Movie 33. Nikki Bella Inactive 34. Brie Bella Inactive
EXTRAS 35. Ronda Rousey Possible/Rumoured 36. Lita Legends/Surprise Entrant? 37. Trish Stratus Legends/Surprise Entrant? 38. Molly Holly Legends/Surprise Entrant? 39. Victoria Legends/Surprise Entrant?
If we look at it this way to get a 30 woman rumble you would have 8 from RAW (10 on their roster but you may lose Alexa Bliss + her challenger) 7 from Smackdown (9 on their roster but you may lose Charlotte Flair + her challenger) TOTAL – 15 (Possibly 17 but I can’t see WWE leaving Alexa and Charlotte off the card)
NXT – 10 on their roster but you will lose Ember Moon + her challenger as they may compete at Takeover (Maybe NXT has qualifying matches and gets 4 entrants; 5 if they add the champion)
TOTAL – 19 (Possibly 22 if Raw/Smackdown champions don’t have contenders and they add the NXT Women’s champion (Winner of Ember Moon vs??? at Takeover) to the Rumble)
Now let’s take the inactive women- Becky Lynch(Shooting a Movie), Maryse ( It’s a possibility , Last Match Wrestlemania 33); Husband (The Miz) is shooting a Movie , Nikki Bella (Inactive), Brie Bella (Inactive)
You may only see Maryse, Becky Lynch and Nikki Bella added to the match out of the current inactive Women
TOTAL – 22 (Possibly 25 if Raw/Smackdown champions don’t have contenders and they add the NXT Women’s champion (Winner of Ember Moon vs??? at Takeover) to the Rumble)
This leaves a possible 25 entrants if you add surprise entrants such as Ronda Rousey, Lita Trish Stratus, Molly Holly, Victoria, Eve Torres, Kelly Kelly + Any Women signed to a WWE deal who competed in the Mae Young Classic (who may have had the odd match in NXT but not signed to their roster) you could get the total up to 30 Entrants.
However in my opinion I ca see WWE doing a 20 woman rumble (Remember the first Men’s rumble was 20 entrant before become 30 entrants) they will comfortably be able to do a 20 Woman rumble (Even if Alexa Bliss and Charlotte defend their titles you can add qualifiers from NXT (Have them do a mini rumble or qualifying tournament and the winner goes to the rumble) and add a Legends/ Surprise entrants such as Trish or Lita … or Ronda Rousey if they want Ronda to get established in WWE before Wrestlemania if that is in their plans.

I don't see why people are all over Rousey being in this. It has been reported all over that have not even had talks yet about any debut. Asuka is going to win it going in the ring as number 1.

Because they're almost certainly having her wrestle at WM. WWE isn't going to miss the opportunity for the press by waiting until her name cools anymore. And if it isn't in the 4HW vs. 4HW match, which was already rumored to be in play for Survivor Series, then it'll most certainly be her debuting in the Rumble, Asuka winning the title from Bliss, then Rousey snapping her undefeated streak at WM.

I'm looking forward to Absolution vs Riott Squad during this, we all know its going to happen Also everyone will gang up to eliminate Nia Jax but it would be cool if she threw out tons of women before that happens..
