Lmao .. Aj didn't make top ten. Hah pass on this. No offense The responses from you and ThugSuperstar are very unsurprising. Fair game if you disagree. AJ Styles is legitimately my favorite wrestler of all time and the guy I consider the best ever, I just didn't love his 2017. Ah well. Aside from riddle I didn't hate your list. However I know riddle personally and i ing hate him. I will say that I felt the list belonged I'm other feds though. AJ is my longtime favorite next to flair. His matches with Cena were amazing and i hate Cena. So aj was robbed.

We agreed it's his board I stated my opinion. Don't try and start any fight

We don't need to turn this into an argument thread now that it's concluded. It's okay if you don't agree. It's okay to say what you think should be better. But don't have to argue about the thread itself.
As I said previously, Kev and I talked about it. He's asked me each year before posting it. And I personally gave the green light for him to post it here... again. It does have WWE & NXT matches included (even at number 1!) so that's why I allowed it.
Plus as I said, I love when people celebrate wrestling as opposed to bitching about it constantly. This hobby is supposed to be fun. Not to fill some void in your life.

This is why I love wrestling. Everybody can form their own opinion on the matches that happened during the year. My number one may not correlate to yours Kev (I personally had Black vs. Dream as #1), but it is awesome to see how wrestling can mean something to somebody else. Great list! Thanks for doing this!

I have zero problems with Bate vs. Dunne being #1 since it was the best match in a WWE ring in years. Both them are under 25 and will crank out a laundry list of great marches. I personally had Okada vs. Shibata as my #1 match last year.

If you're interested in finding out the ratings of any specific matches that weren't on the list, let me know.

Loved the list as always, completely agree with the top spot, those guys didn't have a bad match all year. Of course have to give a lot of respect to The Kevstaaa for putting in so much effort into this list which I know I enjoyed reading and I hope a lot of folks on here did as well.

If you're interested in finding out the ratings of any specific matches that weren't on the list, let me know. Curious what your ratings were on the Gargano/Ohno match from the 12/6 NXT episode and Zayn/Rollins from the 1/23 episode of Raw. Assuming they probably both just missed the cut.

I'm curious to see your review for Diesel/Bret Hart SS 95. In my opinion, one of my all time favs.

Curious about your thoughts on Gargano/Ohno too, I still gotta watch it back but initially I remember it being damn good and commentary afterwards hyped it as like an NXT moment to never forget lol

I thought that was fantastic but I’m also completely sunken into Gargano’s story right now so I’m probably biased.

Someone compiled these stats of my list for me.
Promotion breakdown - This is figured by giving a numerical score corresponding to the amount of stars given, then totaling the amount of points that each promotion earned. Note 1: I calculated this with NXT and WWE as separate entities. Note 2: if a promotion's title was defended in another promotion, it counted for the promotion the match took place in. For example, the WWE UK Championship was defended on NXT Takeover: Chicago, therefore, it counted as NXT, not WWE.
1. NJPW, 45 matches, 193 points 2. WWE, 21 matches, 88.75 points 3. PROGRESS, 20 matches, 83.75 points 4. NXT, 12 matches, 51.75 points 5. Evolve, 10 matches, 41.5 points 6. Dragon Gate, 6 matches, 25 points 7. PWG, 6 matches, 24.5 points 8. Lucha Und., 5 matches, 21.25 points 9. RevPro, 3 matches, 13 points 10. NOAH, 2 matches, 8.25 points 11. ROH, 1 match, 4.25 points 12. Stardom, 1 match, 4.25 points 13. Style Battle, 1 match, 4.25 points
Show breakdown - This is ranked by the star point totals that each card received. Here is the Top 10:
Rank - # of matches listed - Promotion - Card - date - Star rating totals 1. - 3 - NJPW - NJPW New Beginning in Osaka - 2/11/2017 - 13.5 points 1. - 3 - NXT - NXT Takeover: Chicago - 5/20/2017 - 13.5 points 3. - 3 - NJPW - Wrestle Kingdom 11 - 1/4/2017 - 13 points 3. - 3 - NJPW - G1 Climax - 7/17/2017 - 13 points 5. - 3 - WWE - SummerSlam - 8/20/2017 - 12.75 points 6. - 3 - Progress - Progress 55: Chase the Sun - 9/10/2017 - 12.5 points 7. - 2 - NJPW - NJPW G1 Special in USA Day 2 - 7/2/2017 - 9 points 7. - 2 - WWE - Hell in a Cell - 10/8/2017 - 9 points 9. - 2 - Progress - Progress 45: Galvanize - 3/19/2017 - 8.75 points 9. - 2 - NXT - NXT Takeover: Wargames - 11/18/2017 - 8.75 points
There were eight cards tied for the #11 position, all with two matches listed, all with 8.5 total points: WWE UK Championship Tournament (Night Two) NXT Takeover: Orlando NJPW Wrestling Toyonokuni Progress 49: Super Strong Style 16 (Night One) NJPW G1 Special in USA Day 1 G1 Climax (7/21/17 show & 8/1/17 show) NJPW Power Struggle
Wrestler rankings (Top 25):
1. Tomohiro Ishii, 55.75 points 2. Matt Riddle, 50.5 points 3. Tetsuya Naito, 44 points 4. Kenny Omega, 43.5 points 5. Keith Lee, 41.5 points 6. Pete Dunne, 38.5 points 7. Zach Sabre Jr., 38.25 points 8. Travis Banks, 38 points 9. Tyler Bate, 35.25 points 10. AJ Styles, 33.75 points 11. Hiromu Takahashi, 33.75 points 12. Hiroshi Tanahashi, 30.25 points 13. Trent Seven, 28.75 points 14. Kota Ibushi/Tiger Mask W, 26.25 points 15. Kazuchika Okada, 26 points 16. Ricochet/Prince Puma, 24.75 points 17. WALTER, 20.5 points 18. The amount of work that must go into this list is staggering and I thoroughly enjoy it every year.
