Just wondering why they decided to add the yellow card versions of Shawn and razor to the set? Why not just purple razor and the black and silver shawn.

Both were huge sellers in series 7 and series 10 was initially only Jannetty, Headshrinkers, Bushwhackers and Giant Gomzalez. It needed a couple of star names.

I heard that the re-released Michaels and Razor were supposed to be mail aways like the Bret, Undertaker, Hogan figures. I don't know why they put them on the cards instead.

I heard about the mailaways too, but thought those were going to be the repaints? Like master_fuji said, probably because they were very popular figures and Series 10 was a very lackluster lineup before the addition of HBK and Razor.
Maybee they were originally in the same paint as the yellow card because it was a last minute decision to add them, and then they changed the attire once they had time to do it.
HBK and Razor are now shown on the back of the cards, nor are they in the Hasbro toy fair catalog for S10. And I'm pretty sure initial shipments of the set were just the original 6 figures.
