Seen a listing posted on eBay for a MOC Kamala variant. Seller is asking $12,000. Anyone have an idea of what the realistic selling value is to this? I know it's extremely rare, but $12k?

For something like this, it's harder to determine a fair market value because there's not much to compare it to. This type of figure wasn't mass produced and rarely pops up on eBay. Like with anything, it's only worth what the market dictates. If someone is out there that really really wants this figure in their collection, then maybe they'd be willing to pay 12 grand. That expression "it's only worth what someone is willing to pay" is repeated a lot because it's true. This figure is only valuable to a small handful of collectors. Is it worth $12k -- not to me -- but there might be someone out there that's willing to shell out that kind of cash. Past sold eBay listings of the Tugboat 2UP and Greg Valentine prototypes show that people are willing to pay a lot for their wrestling collectables.

I remember a few years ago bidding on one, I believe it eventually went for $2,300. I think $12,000 is extremely high.

If I had the funds I would offer 3500$ but that would be my only offer. For me personally I'd rather abunch of Hasbro carded figures even doubles, rather than just 1.

If it's the one that's been on ebay like forever: it's a fake. It has obvious glue marks on the packaging...

OK that one doesn't seem to have glue marks. Too bad it's just one picture...

I feel like a figure of this sort should always be graded to make sure it's never been opened or screwed with. And to authenticate it 100%
If I were rich or well off, I could still never bring myself to spend 5000$ on a figure. That's a down payment on a brand new car. 12,000$ on Kamala with a moon on his stomach or a new luxury car with low payments.

If he wants to sell it for anywhere near 12K, then he needs to get AFA to grade it.

Being honest I can;t see why Kamala always gets a top notch price. I know he's rare. But if thats the case then surely a SGT Slaughter No name would be worth as much. Considering what you see a Prototype sell for.

That does seem pretty high but I guess if you're taking offers you can set the Buy it now price like that as you have nothing to lose.
The card and bubble look decent judging by that photo. I don't understand why you wouldn't list as many photos as you can with a rare piece like this though, surely you'd want the buyer to see it form all angles, front and back? I would certainly want to see a lot more of the card, close ups of the bubble, and the card back to see that there was no 'distribution stickers' etc.
As there are a few of these graded now, I would probably only seek out a graded one if I ever had an inclination to add it to the collection, which obviously adds to the cost. It is a very cool figure, though.

This guy also has the entire Popy collection for sale. But he has one pic for each auction. And seemed annoyed when I asked for more. I just lost a lot of money.

What I’m saying is if there is 1 of that figure type compared to 24 Kamala surely the 1 would be more desirable
