Hey all.
This can be both a post discussing the above topic (buying/selling [autographed] memorabilia, be it music, movies, tv--whatever falls under 'entertainment'!) as well as giving advice on doing so (avoiding fakes, helping in pricing, etc.)
I see not why it wouldn't be allowed, as the main purpose is to help people out and there will be no general transactions going on, just discussions about recent grabs or those from the past (you're always welcomed to post pictures if you have some real cool gems or movie props and stuff too .. ) as well as advice in buying and selling these items, as it can be tricky dealing in this market.
That out of the way, the main other thing is no eBay links or anything like that whatsoever. That would get this locked or deleted asap so just no, please and thank you.
Moving along...
I was wondering if anybody had past experience selling any autographed memorabilia they had gotten, be it of the music variety, movies, wrestling, video games even for that matter.... I don't know what else to think of. I have a big move coming up and am unloading a ton of stuff, and am thinking it's time to unload some of my autographed cassette tapes and vinyl, and I have quite a few that could fetch a solid amount. The ONLY time I've ever sold anything autographed is when I had a photo of the person signing the EP as well as the signed EP. It was the authentication. Oddly, one or two of the things I'm looking to sell are from the same artist and he has a signature style to signing his name, but would that be enough? Would I be liable if I just listed it, and trusted the buyer trusts me? These were signed in person. I love 'em, but have a few things from the same person and probably will just keep one in this instance. And that goes for one or two other artists and a band I'm going to sell some stuff that I had autographed by....
I just was curious if anyone has experience with this and how hard it can be or if people are real uptight about proof or authenticity issues. I also wouldn't mind hearing about some of your collections for kicks, as I liked getting autographs from all sorts of ways, like mailing baseball cards out or just waiting and slumming around concerts early and bumping into people from the band when they're in a friendly mood at the bar. Or waiting after a baseball game, or any sports game. I always liked doing that when I had more time.
