I'm not a doctor....who knows if Paige did herself more harm than good by getting the neck surgery. WWE may have wanted her to try and heal it through a longer period of rehab rather than neck surgery, which makes it more vulnerable to become re-injured.
Paige certainly didn't last very long after her return, so it's clear that the neck was vulnerable.
I know Sting has not had any neck surgery because he said guys like Kurt Angle and Stone Cold told him if you don't absolutely HAVE to get it, then DON'T get it.
It's just a shame what happened with Paige. I feel bad for her, but I wouldn't "blame her"....but just maybe she made the wrong call by jumping into surgery too soon? Again, I'm not a doctor so who knows.

I wouldn't necessarily blame Paige for it, but considering every outside doctor supposedly wouldn't clear her to return, and it was only the WWE doctor that would, I think it may have been a matter of time until something like this happened. Neck injuries really are a ticking time bomb, regardless of whether people think Super Botchmaster Sasha is to blame.

I know when I get older I am most likely going to need surgery on my back (bulging disc), and I am putting it off as long as possible and rehabbing it. Because I know my quality of life will greatly change after a surgery. Normally with neck and spine injuries they need to go in there multiple times to try and fix things.
That said, I feel bad for Paige. She is far to young to be having neck issues.

On the topic of defying death. We know this industry is merciless to wrestlers who never make it beyond their forties. I'm still floored to see that people like Missy Hyatt and Ric Flair are still around and thriving! They took full advantage of the 80s that's for sure.
