I buy more basics than elites mainly because they are cheaper. The new articulation doesn't really bother me as they still look the same.

What's up with the arms?? Some people hate the more realistic articulation. Since the Basics now have actual joints and the biceps don’t spin anymore Oh, I never really study the loose figures I buy tbh. can you tell me 2 Basics which I can compare the arms in photos?

As an avid collector of elites, I only ever bought basics of guys I knew would never get an elite.. Titus, Darren Young, Suits, etc.. But this new articulation has put me off so much, sadly, I think I'm just gonna stick to elites.
The arms aren't only ugly, they do nothing to help the articulation of the figure! The only positive I have is that arm tattoos are a lot clearer as they're not broken up between the arm and shoulder ball joint.
There's also the issue of some basics not being able to stand without the ankle joints now as well.
All in all, I'd rather keep my money in the hope of one day getting an elite, than pay for the garbage Mattel is calling their basics!

I rarely buy basics, but I know find myself passing up figs I would have ordinarily bought, namely Natalya and Shane O'Mac. Other than suited figs, I'm done with basics now.

I just recently got back into collecting, but honestly have only bought one basic which was a Dolph Ziggler because it was on clearance at Walmart. I'm not stoked when seeing the new arm articulation, I have contemplated picking up Ravishing Rick Rude but that has been the only one that has peaked my interest.

I haven't bought a basic other than for parts in a long ass time. I'm debating on Konnor and Viktor when BP 50 shows up near me. I kinda want to wait for elites but I don't know how likely that is to happen. While fashion files is doing great The Ascension don't seem popular enough to get that many figures. Here is to hoping that changes and they get a good push.

I wasn't a regular basics collector but I was definitely snagging all the women and the odd manager. The arms I probably could have lived with but stripping the torso joint AND the ankles from the basic females means I probably won't be buying anymore. I'd have bought the new Nia and Natalya in a heartbeat had them been the old style articulation. Now? Easy pass. I'm probably gonna pass on Billy Kaye too.

I buy lots of basics along with Elites. My son plays a lot and basics are great for playing. Often times they feel less flimsy which is great for playing.
On a side note, I am really surprised we got two basic Sgt. Slaughter figures within a year. I like both figures, but it just seems odd that they were close together considering he is a legend.

I was definitely considering it, but I just recently bought Sasha Banks, Rich Swann and Natalya basics and I'm quite fond of them. Especially the women's figures, they move much more fluid than the ones with the Elite joints.
My only issue now is that the aesthetic is very hit and miss for me. Rich Swann looks great, but Cesaro from The Bar BP looks like he's been starved. I'll probably only buy women, suits and one offs in basic form now.

All in all, I'd rather keep my money in the hope of one day getting an elite, than pay for the garbage Mattel is calling their basics! Basics are for playing. As long as you can extend an arm for a clothesline and lift a leg for a big boot, you have all of the articulation that you need. During the Christmas shopping season, I could hardly find basics (outside of Lana) in my area. They appear to sell very well.

If I were a parent I'd rather buy a 9.99 basic Cena, them fork out 19.99 for an elite with small accessories that will more than likely be lost forever in the darkest depths under the sofa. BUT as an adult collector, basics do absolutely nothing for me, especially now with the new articulation, so maybe I'm being biased, but for the likes of myself, and I'm sure other adult collectors, for the majority of the time, basics suck! Lol

Nope. I am an adult collector. And 90% of my collection is loose, but once I open it and takes pics of it I just place them on a shelf in vanilla stances. I don’t pose them in any signature poses. So on my shelves basis and elite look the same. That said as much as I like Elites my last 7 of 8 wwe figure purchases have been Basics. Basic series 79 Neville - grey/ black trunks Basic series 78 Styles - red tights Basic series 76 Jericho - grey/purple trunks WrestleMania BP Sting vs Triple H WrestleMania Rollins WalMart Flashback Orton - Finkel baf WalMart Flashback Rude - Finkel baf

It's kinda weird. For years I collected Basics because of the variety of characters. I liked having figures of talent that never got an Elite. Well then over the summer something changed. I'm not even sure what it was. It was like a vibe that it was time to make the change. A premonition of sorts. A few weeks later we found out about the new molds.
So within the first month of this decision I revamped half of my shelf. And over the last few months I've phased out almost off of my Basics. I still have guys like Titus, Shelton, Jinder & Roode up there. But they are only placeholders at this point.
But last week I bought my first basic with the new arms and ankles. I bought it for a head swap. Before switching it, I fiddled with it for a few minutes to see what I thought. And to be completely honest, I liked the arms. A lot. I like the look of the smoother bicep. Had they started out that way, I'd still have collected as much as I have. That being said, IMO it's too late to change it now. I like consistency for my collection.

When I first jumped into the line, I couldn't understand the appeal of Elites to collectors. Double the price for a what is often a plastic tshirt or other accessory that I don't consider essential, plus I hated the way the ab crunch made the figure look. Most of my collection are Elites simply due to character selection or attire, but I still don't mind buying basics. The TNF basic X-Pac is one of my favorite Mattel figures, period. If you pose or play with figures, I get the "Elites only" mentality. The legs are too close together on most basics for standard moves like a powerbomb or piledriver. But like PJ mentioned if I'm just opening the figure and putting it on a shelf, I never totally understood the basic-hate that some people seem to have here.

I use to buy the basics only because of NXT and women’s talent. At the time Bill had even said that NXT stars wouldn’t be getting elits on a regular basis. Just sprinkles here and there of major names like Kevin Owens.
Now women even have their own elite line at Walgreens and NXT stars are everywhere!
So no need for the basics.
Even for someone like Bobby Roode. I was so tempted to buy his basic figure. But then two months later I got his elite and then soon I’ll have his rumored entrance greats release.
