Hopefully SmackDown gets better in the run up to Mania then. I think SD needs more main event stars too. The rumours of Rollins coming to SmackDown sound good, I just hope it isn't in replacement of AJ but rather as a competitor for him.

Yeah Vince doesn’t care. As long as Raw is the top dog he doesn’t care. Which is sad because a year ago SDL was the better show. I still say that this was blatant sabotage by Vince. SDL was killing it after the initial draft. Vince then guts the show of their top guys and straps the top title around Jinder’s waist for 6 months while AJ and Owens were relegated to the midcard. Orton and Shinsuke were both sacrificed to Jinder, while guys like Rusev, Sami Zayn and Booby Roode were wasted for so long (Rusev is still doing nothing). Then the main feud currently going is Shane/ Bryan when we know damn well that we’ll never get a match between them. Why would Vince sabotage his own show? You ask this after we all just sat through 6 months of a Jinder Mahal WWE Title reign? Look up Paul Heyman quotes about his time writing for SD from 2002-2003. He was told to make SD different from Raw. He did, with SD even beating Raw in the ratings at times, yet was demoted in 2004 and saw SD’s roster gutted with the draft.

It's not like he asked to be champion, he did the best he could in that situation given to him and the less we can say for Shinsuke Nakamura winning the Royal Rumble, the better

I honestly don't believe WWE's purposefully sabotaged SD. From what we've heard RAW is WWE's big money maker with SD secondary. So I'm okay with RAW getting more stars and more attention. Same thing for the better writers. It only makes sense to milk the cash cow.
But IMO the biggest issue with SD is they fail to capitalize on something when it's hot. Look at Slater & Rhyno from last year. If handled correctly Slater could be a huge underdog at the moment. Instead, they dropped it and moved him to RAW. Look at the Fashion Police. They gave them TV time but no direction as far as in ring goes. And their shtick got old. And the same thing appears to be happening with Rusev Day. Use those type of talents to fill up the show with quality television.
Why not have Rusev, Lana, and a serenading English walking in the local mall/park/sports event proclaiming today as Rusev Day? Sounds stupid, but I'd much rather see that than to watch Bryan & Shane arguing.
And as I was saying on the first page, why not use the women more? Charlotte was main eventing jam packed RAW episodes but can't main event an abysmal SD? Becky was the first woman drafted to SD but hasn't been giving anything good to work with in almost a year. Naomi seemed to be getting over with her glow in the dark championship and then it was taken away quickly to give it to Natalya. Even the Riott Squad isn't as developed as Absolution. And they're missing their leader!
Look at NXT as an example. They don't have a giant roster at the moment. But they know how to use em. They know how to make the shows feel like you've gotten your money's worth. They focus on in ring talent to fill the TV time. So with SD, regardless of missing talent or missing writers, there's no excuse to be making the shows they've been making as of late.

This goes back to my point of Vince sabotaging SDL to ensure Raw is the top show.

Yeah I mean like he's unintentionally bad. Surely he doesn't want to purposely ruin his own creation.

They are well aware of their attendance.

Well at least they're aware. But IMO they just need to utilize the stars they have better till the next draft. And hopefully something changes that helps out. IMO no reason Orton and Roode are both faces. SD needs a mega heel and these two are lingering in a US title feud. Get Fashion Police, Dillinger, & Ryder on TV more. Use Rusev. They seem to have something with this Rusev Day thing.... RUN WITH IT! After the next draft, move Samoa Joe over to SD. A feud with AJ would be awesome. This Bryan/Shane storyline is s**t. It needs to be taken out back and shot in the face. Revamp Ziggler. He's not going anywhere so stop with the damn record scratch. Make the show like NXT & 205. Let the wrestling be the focal point, while RAW has the over the top stories. Make RAW & SD feel like two completely different shows. Use the women more. Why are they doing next to nothing when SD needs stars? Use Becky more. Give Charlotte a good story to work with. Do something/anything. It would be far better than nothing. That's the most negative I've ever seen you post And you're 100% right. If we can have a thread on here talking about how AJ phones it in, then you know SDL is doing something wrong completely.

The 2016 SD episode where AJ was goofing around in the locker room with Cena's headband was very good fun. It couldn't have taken up many resources to film such skits, either. They should have more of those segments on the show.
Here, I'll come up with a scenario right now: As the episode begins, AJ discovers Nakamura's unattended purse, or manbag if you will, left behind in the locker room. The rest of the episode unfolds as, backstage, AJ struggles with the moral dilemma of whether to rummage through the bag, in an effort to discover his rival's fighting secrets. Along the way AJ is nearly found out several times. These near-misses induce comedic misunderstandings and low drama.
The episode ends as we discover that, in fact, the manbag belongs to Arn Anderson.
Print it, sit back and watch the jack roll in.

I went to a SD Live event recently, and while it certainly wasn't packed, I felt like there was a solid crowd. Waaaaaaay more than in that pic, but it would be hard to estimate numbers since it was in an arena that could seat 20k. I do live in a hub with two major cities, though.
