Can anyone fill me in on what the "spreadsheet" theory is? Once mattel uses a part for a figure, even if its clearly incorrect, they dont change it...hence the term "spread sheet". Its like when dm 90s Sting came out and the torso was clearly wrong, they could have changed it on the batb sting but the spreadsheet says "bluetista torso" so they went with it. Same with all ric flairs, who clearly is the same build as ron simmons and sheamus.

Can anyone fill me in on what the "spreadsheet" theory is? Somebody suggested, fairly obviously in my opinion, that mattel have a spreadsheet with recipes if you like, of parts they use to make their figures. Why on earth some people on here find this strange is beyond me

When i recently watched a vide of simmons in the wcw, first thing came to mind was 'wow he used to be big like lesnar.' Yeah I think brock's body would be good.

That's just it; anyone, ANYONE who is even a casual fan just has to pull up Ron Simmons as a WCW jobber vs Ranger Ross, Ron Simmons in Doom with Butch Reed, or Ron Simmons the first black WCW Champion to see this guy was built like a tank. And even if you are a WWF-only fan, Farooq in NOD and Ministry/APA was a large dude. I can't fathom how you can look at those references and then decide confidently that the Alberto Del Rio torso is the best part available. Maybe Bill was coerced into that decision, like he was coerced into giving DM GAB Sting the bluetista torso, or Rollins skinny legs, or Rhyno boulder shoulders, or Jeff Hardy painted over vest, or Kurt Angle jakked up Ryback body, or...you get the picture.

I gotta say, the molds in this line are looking dated in general. Anyone have see the Boom! Studios mock figures? Those "sculpts" are amazing. That is how I've always hoped figures would look in 2018. The attention to proportions and how it meets the articulation points is so smart. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but whoever is creating those is a better designer than anybody at Mattel. I will stand by that. Some Mattel molds are downright silly looking in comparison. Get the Boom! Studios guy and give him whatever he wants lol. Their Kurt Angle "sculpt" puts the Mattel one to shame.

I don't think it's whining, but people being curious about the process or how something like this could be overlooked constantly. I have another theory and it's that Mattel might also have templates of torsos and legs that create a certain height. This figure is literally the DM hogan if you look at the parts minus the arms, AJ is direct repaint of Daniel Bryan which is why I think Mattel refuses to give him a new mold. It could also explain why a lot of figures have incorrect scaling etc... At the end of the day, Mattel has the power to be churning out the best product out there, they have the resources, the parts etc. part choices are just one issue, incorrect color choices are another, the constant cheapening out on molds etc, qc issues are whole other deal... Maybe Mattel should make a $50 line for those that have the money to burn and say they're just toys.

Why would they spend money for new tooling on a figure that’s gonna sell extremely well. They’ll make more money by reusing he parts. I wish they had new tooling for AJ too but oh well

Crossfit Jesus that's most likely the reason, but then you have Mattel using those resources on people like James Ellsworth or the new elite Rollins that will more than likely never use the crotch piece with the textured feathers. I'd rather they use it on figures who they'll get the most out of.
