Everybody has their own taste in music, but some specific bands are more hated than others. Sometimes it’s justified, and sometimes it isn’t.
For me, a couple bands I’m a big fan of that a lot of other people seem to hate are Linkin Park and Metallica.
For Linkin Park, I can get some of the hate based on their earlier material, but they’ve definitely evolved greatly since their early 2000’s stuff from a lyrical and sound perspective. Their first two albums have great songs, but I get the hate based on the Nu Metal genre and some emo leaning lyrics. Even with Chester Bennington’s death last year, I think they’ll still continue improving and evolving.
The hate for Metallica is understandable because of the whole Napster thing and their mediocre as hell Load-Death Magnetic stretch of albums. I’m a fan based on their first five albums and their latest album along with a couple good songs from the aforementioned mediocre stretch.
What are some bands that you like that people seem to hate?

Well, I can’t say anyone hates them but I LOVE the Misfits. I have found that people just don’t know them. It utterly irks me when I see anyone wearing their merch having not listened to one dang song.
I got into them years back. I heard Saturday Night playing at a local record store. I got into them but quickly saw how lame the “Graves” era is. I have several of their shirts, a book about them and I even made my own Misfits jacket.
It’s just a strong irk when I run into people who literally have no idea who they are. I used to date a guy who would wear their stuff. He couldn’t name a single song, a lyric, didn’t know anyone in the band...it was terrible 😂. It’s good their logo is easily recognized in American culture, however it’s a slap in the face to real fans to see hipsters in their clothes.
And, if your favorite song is from the Graves era, I still don’t like you 😂

I swear if I see one more idiot in a Nirvana shirt that doesn’t know the band I’m gonna lose my sh*t.

Literally one song. I think kids feel it’s “grunge” to wear rock band tees. Like no! It’s an insult to true fans haha.

I don't like them but the vitriol surrounding Nickelback is weird to me. Like, there's an entire genre of rock that sounds just like them. Why are they singled out for being lame?

Literally one of the most iconic songs of all time.

Chad Kroeger is a massive douche with a giant ego and acts like they’re THE greatest band of all time. Other than that the lack of evolution in sound and some bad lyrics contribute to the hate. Sometimes people just like to pick on the biggest band in a genre they don’t like so that could be the reason for them being singled out. They do deserve hate, but it’s a little bit overboard at times.

But honestly Come As You Are and Heart Shaped Box are my favorites from them. Other than that, I can honestly say I don’t know their library of music. I’m not saying you have to know every song to be a fan of a band. But if you can only pick the hits, you aren’t a fan lol. It’s sad that Misfits seem to be the one band who’s merchandise outshine their songs in the mainstream.

I never really thought they were as bad as people say they are. Fred Durst can be kind of an a$$hole sometimes but that’s really the only reason a lot of people have for hating them.

Luke Bryan. I know a lot of country fans who dislike him. Granted he’s had a few awful singles over the years but a lot of the stuff on his album is pretty solid.

I am a big Green Day fan. I've seen so much negativity towards them. Yeah, they have a bit of a formula. I still really enjoy them and I've seen them live twice.

I don't think other people hate my taste in music (50s & 60s) but don't realise it exists.

Spice Girls. There I said it. I'm like the soccer mom in Small Soldiers. I don't want to like them but when one of their songs comes on I have to admit that I like it.

I think it’s a certain hardcore portion of the fan base that refuses to accept ANY criticism of the band and will tear apart anyone that says otherwise that brings them most of their hate. The misconception that they’re an “emo” band also contributes a lot I’m sure. I personally like most of their music, but those hardcore fans can be annoying as hell for any band/artist.
