I'm mostly a loose collector. Way more fun in my opinion.. they display better too (since I like to pose them on the shelf). MOC takes up way more space than I'm willing to dedicate to them, and I don't want 50-100 boxes sitting around doing nothing. Furthermore, it must be such a headache to always track down perfect boxes--or deal with shipping for that matter. I collect for the joy of it and I try not to worry about the potential value..
...that said, that wasn't the original question. The figures I still have MOC started cause I didn't get around to opening them and after a long period I just got used to the way they were in box. Those are also figures that have nice packaging. Like DM Savage and Shinsuke.

Like several other collectors, I'm a MOC collector but I like to have 1 'loose' displayed or 'as new' figure for each MOC.
I'm also pretty picky when it comes to the condition of the cards/ bubbles, that's why this new Retro line is causing me some issues with the cheap cards and weak bubbles. All part of the fun, I guess!

Ive kept very few figures moc, the ones I do keep moc are usually ones I bought two of or they have amazing looking packages. I have also kept a lot of the packages for easy storage or to keep accessories safe.

My collection except for the figures I grew up having are still in the box, only because I am waiting til I get a house to open and display mine. As far as people saying things about how others collect loose or moc , grown men playing with them etc.... Who cares? ? At least the people are not out breaking the law or doing drugs. I would rather a grown man collect figures and play with them, than destroying their community and adding to the prison population, and fuller prisons mean job security for me.

I only collect Hasbros (and Mattel Retro).
90% of my figures are my actual figures from when I was a kid. As such, they are loose and well played with.
Yes, they were extremely heavily played with and do show some marks and blemishes - but to me, that makes them more special. The memories of getting a particular figure, or the fun I had playing with them. Literally, years of memories.
Because of this, I only buy loose to complete my collection (the unobtainable in the day green cards + a few others I missed out on - Fatu, Dusty Rhodes, tan Bushwackers). That way I can have them all on display together.
I have also opened every Mattel Retro to date...but with so many modern guys, and space limited, I think I'll only open the actual decent figures from MY era from now on.

Striclty loose. Used to keep all the boxes up until the end of last year. F it. Only reason I justify MOC is if its signed or very rare. Plus, loose opens up a whole new avenue of customizing your figs. To each their own.

All of mine are loose
Wrestling figures are toys, toys are supposed to be played with, kinda hard to do that when they're stuck in a big ol' box

Loose look a lot betger displayed, but some packaging looks awesome. No offence to anyone, but im still weirded out by grown men playing with toys, very strange in my opinion, unless its with your kids of course

I’ve been a lose collector for about nearly 3 years now, all the figures that I have loose are ones I’ve used right up to mid 2015 & some basics that are from early 2016

I have become stuck in this dilemma and was wondering the same thing. I grew up towards the tail end of LJN's so I have a few of those and the Hasbro's so I have those loose and displayed. I continued to open my figures through the BCA figures and around the time RA figures began I kept them moc and have through Mattel. Also like others have pointed out my son is now a fan and I buy figs for him. Room is definitely becoming a problem and being able to display them and enjoy them seems to make sense. Problem there is what to do with boxes than, I suppose I could get rid of the bubbles and file the cards away. I have started to throw the idea around of getting back to my storage unit and sort through what I really want and sell the rest. In my home now my Mattel's and Jakks classic superstars take up a spare room in my basement in tubs and boxes and various other Jakks in a storage unit. I'm having the same issue with my MOTU classics and ultimates. It's a good thing I had a family and responsibilities and enough self control or there's no telling how much I would have.

I’m a loose collector with a few MOC figures. My only MOC figs are those of favorite wrestlers/packaging/attire. For my loose collection, I keep the boxes. IDK why but I do. I’ve only tossed out 2 boxes.

Honestly if they are normal elites i throw the box away.
DM's are different, all of the mattel elite boxes are great for re-using.
my MOC's are mostly from the 90's, WWF BCA's and Toybiz Marvel Legends

A question for all the WWE Mattel Retro collectors on here, if you are keeping your figures MOC, are you worried about the bubbles yellowing with time? I only ask due to the holes on the underside of the bubbles allowing air to get in. I had a discussion on one of the FB forums the other day and wondered what other collectors thoughts were on this.
I know it’s hard to tell what will happen in the future, but it’d be frustrating to keep these nicely stored only for the bubbles to yellow and fall off in time (these are poorly glued to the card, also, I’ve noticed.)

I only have a couple of MOC items. 98.8% of my collection is out of box.

Mine are all loose apart from a Taker and Bret that I got signed at Mania 30.
I keep my figures loose because I play with them ... don’t judge me ...
