He missed both shows on Saturday and Sunday. Safe to say something is up.

He missed both shows on Saturday and Sunday. Safe to say something is up. Maybe I'm skeptical but I think it's storyline. Nakamura on SDLive says he wants AJ fresh. Took about 10 minutes to get in the ring to save him from a Rusev Day beatdown despite being 10 ft away. Then in MSG, he's teaming with Nakamura, who does nothing while Owens and Zayn beat him down. Rushes out to save Nakamura at the end. Until they change the main event, this is a story. It's Nakamura who is supposed to be watching AJ's back and is doing nothing. WWE wanted to do something big at MSG, and this angle is it.

WWE doesn't usually pull guys from house shows (especially the top guy on that half of the roster) unless there's a legitimate reason. Either he's hurt, or he's run down and they want to make sure he's healthy for Wrestlemania. It's extremely unlikely that this was just done to advance an angle at MSG, especially when Styles isn't involved with Owens and Zayn at all right now.

Perhaps, but when you're storyline is "Nakamura is watching AJ's back because he wants a healthy AJ at Mania. Wait here comes Rusev Day. Naka why are you just standing there? Do something. ... Wait here comes Zayn and owens with a chair. Oh wow, Naka was late with the save yet again" it kind of fits the story.

Again, they don't have any history of pulling the top guy from weekend house shows (in small markets, especially) to play up a house show angle. It's just not something they do. Hell, guys who get beat up and are "injured" on TV still show up and work house shows on the weekends (see: New Day.) There's no upside to pulling AJ Styles from those shows for the sake of an angle. For what it's worth, Meltzer is saying it's a legitimate injury and that AJ is at Raw tonight to be checked out.

IF AJ is injured... They’re gonna try and keep the show on track by removing him from wrestling until it’s clear he can’t go so we could be looking at a new champion next Tuesday, too soon for tomorrow night. They're not going to move Cena back from Taker unless there is still a question mark, one enough they think they can hold it for another year. They’ll likely move KO or Sami to being champ for Nakamura to defeat at Mania. I hope they go with Sami in that case -would be cool to see him be champ for a couple weeks and he has fantastic chemistry with Nakamura. I’d have Shane cost KO who is/was his long-time enemy of the pair and we have two great matches made in spite of losing AJ.
I don’t know what it is but I am just not that into AJ v Nakamura... oh wait I know, the booking for the last four months has been colder then the East Midlands bar that Balmy night at the Royal Rumble.

The leg's fine. I'm guessing they'll keep him out a few house shows as a precaution and that's it. AJ vs. Nakamura will steal Mania and all will be well and just.

Imagine... if AJ is hurt... but doesn't vacate the title... so the WM match is pulled...and Nakamura doesn't have a match anymore... so at WM... Nakamura inserts himself into the Reigns/Lesnar match.... and wins

So if we're speculating, I think I figured it out.
He's not injured. He's sick.
On SDL last week, his voice was completely raspy. I'm going out on a huge limb here, but before I contracted the flu 3 weeks ago, my voice was completely raspy. When AJ was talking, I kept thinking "Please don't be sick. We need you for Mania." Maybe he's actually sick with the flu?

Maybe he's actually sick with the flu? He has plenty of time to rest from the flu if true. Even then, he can still go with the flu. Bret fought Davey at Summerslam with the flu and fought Owen in a cage with the flu at Summerslam and those were two of his best bouts ever.
