When I think of the word "Diva," I think of the female pop Superstars such as Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill and Beyonce Knowles, among others. But I also think of the word "Diva" as a stuck-up, self-centered woman.
Which brings me to why would the WWE ditch the term "Diva" when referring to its female Superstars (I know most of the women today are former indie wrestlers compared to a few years ago when most of the women were former swimsuit models)?

Diva Definition: A self-important person who is temperamental and difficult to please.
So... a Spoiled B*tch.

Yeah, basically someone who is a diva is thought of as a bitch, hard to work with, self-centered, has a huge ego, and otherwise is not complimentary. Basically someone who gets their way because of their looks, and wouldn't get the same attention otherwise. Not flattering.

I think you just answered your own question there. When the whole rebranding with the Women's Revolution started, they probably wanted to leave the term buried along with the swimsuit contests, bra and panties matches, lingerie pillow fights, pudding matches and the butterfly belt. As much as I hate to talk about it and any reality television, they probably still keep the Total Divas show name not only because of the content, but because of how popular the show was and I guess didn't want to throw anyone. And what else could they really go with anyhow,'Total Women' 'Women's World'?? lol

Honestly, it's pretty simple... "Diva" isn't an empowering term, generally it's synonymous with being a negative trait. I also think, that in the world of wrestling, it doesn't full on say "wrestler." If you were an outsider, you might not think "Divas" wrestled, maybe they were somehow part of the show like dancers, singers, or valets--rather than in ring performers. Just a thought IDK. I think you just answered your own question there. When the whole rebranding with the Women's Revolution started, they probably wanted to leave the term buried along with the swimsuit contests, bra and panties matches, lingerie pillow fights, pudding matches and the butterfly belt. And what else could they really go with anyhow,'Total Women' 'Women's World'?? lol Well, apart from the fact that I don't know if the WWE could actually change the name, I think what you mentioned about "content" is important here... part of the draw of reality shows and that show, is the cat fights, drama and bickering--stuff that is synonymous with being a "diva."

You basically answered your own question. It's hated because that generation of women's "wrestling" was such a disgrace.

I would guess it’s mainly just a branding thing. It’s easier to mark a change in the way something is being presented when you change the name of it.

You answered your own question as far as I'm concerned. I know I wouldn't want to be associated with any of those three.

Because the Diva era was a time when female superstars were presented disgracefully. They weren't given a chance to perform anything like the men, were deliberately trained not to wrestle capably, and were hired purely for their looks rather than talent.
By contrast, today's women are hired for their talent rather than their looks, are trained just like the men, and are given similar (though still not equal) opportunities as the men. It would be an insult to refer to any of the current roster of women as "divas", completely undermining the work and effort put into changing the perception of female wrestlers. I still shake my head at the amount of people still seemingly oblivious to the women's revolution, who continue to use the term to describe current female superstars.

I remember the time when the WWE did those matches that you have mentioned plus Halloween costume contests and Santa's Little Helpers matches where the Divas wore sexy Santa dresses. In other words, they were eye candy matches. Since Triple H and Stephanie McMahon gained more power in the WWE, they wanted the women to be treated as equals to the men as they are not fans of eye candy and neither were the WWE Universe. And so, they ditched those matches and had the women compete in the Royal Rumble match, the Elimination Chamber match, the Hell in a Cell match, the MITB ladder match and other matches that were previously been only contested by the men. And also, you noticed a variety of characters ranging from Sasha Banks' Boss to Bayley's bubbly underdog to Charlotte Flair's Queen to Becky Lynch's Lass Kicker to Asuka's Kabuki to Ruby Riott's punkster compared to the model era where pretty much each Diva had either a generic good girl like Kelly Kelly or a mean girl-type like Michelle McCool.

Probably because they prefer the term Women's Division over Divas Division

I don't know it never made sense to me. They were called Divas because that was suposped to be the female version of Superstars and it's a lot easier to say than Women Superstar, Women's Division etc. They made the right decision to kill the butterfly belt though (but still should've made a new unique title design for the current belts).
Not to mention they still have a show called Total Divas.
I don't lose any sleep over it though, it's really not a big deal TBH.

There's plenty of those still on the roster. Also, I call them divas still, it's easier than to say female wrestlers or womens wrestling revolutionaries or whatever they want to call them these days 🤷🏻♂️
