Hoping his bid is accepted but even that is still a process in itself.

Sorry, $890 Million is a drop in the bucket against the $5 Billion dollar debt of the company that would be acquired. It would take the footprints of current TRU shoppers for 5 straight years to break even based off of TRU’s past 5 year financial reports. I want TRU to stick around like any other collector, but those greedy CEO’s and execs did a number on the brand and hobby that has left its footprint behind.

I’m tired of getting my hopes up for TRU. I’ve accepted its death long ago

Anybody buying Toys R Us and keeping the stores open will have to assume the $6 billion debt as well and $890 million is not enough. Its just false hope at this point.

This isn’t new. Pretty sure this was the same story about a month ago where he was going to buy the stores in Canada and TRU was trying to get him to purchase 200 of the better US stores also.

I'm not an expert on bankruptcy auctions, but I don't believe that's accurate. This is a bid submitted through the Chapter 11 auction process, not a business sale. There are also bids of $1B+ for the Asian operation, and presumably will be other offers for the remaining assets in Europe and the US. If the bid is approved by the bankruptcy judge, the new company would be free and clear of the the previous debt. There's still a long, long way from this being approved and finalized. But unless there are stronger offers out there, I haven't seen anything saying it isn't a plausible option.

I think letting TRU die and having something else take its place (without the billions of vulture capitalism debt) might actually turn out better for us in the long run.

I know a company has already purchased a set amount of Canadian stores, so as of now, Canada will still have TRU.

TRU is gone. No chance of turning the corner. Debt too large.

Wouldn't he be better off using the empty stores, using a NEW name, using the buying power he has to deal with toy companies?

Holy crap! Only on here would someone get salty about Toys R Us getting saved. Unless you got a business degree keep it closed! Getting "salty" at someone getting "salty" only serves to smother the rest of us in sodium. I'm glad you're enjoying the site, but don't be a dick and then claim someone else is a dick for calling you a dick.. lol I'm not sure if I'd rather see Toys R Us's open back up, or Kay-Bee put toy stores back in malls. Because I don't think we (in the US) can have both.
