When to eBay to check out sold auction... I like doing that to see people people got for cheap or a steal. Noticed a lot of Bruno Sammartino's sold... I decided to check it out and found out the news that he had passed. I remember finding Elite series 25 just before Christmas a few years back and being excited when I found Bruno on the peg. I thought having a podium was an awesome accessory too! I've sold my Bruno figure a long time ago, but if anyone wants to drop a picture of Bruno in their collection and celebrate Bruno Sammartino, I think it would be great!

I passed on Bruno every time I saw him at retail. I hated that he was a FB figure with the HOF podium and plaque. The accessories really annoyed me plus he was the only figure from his era so I had no place to really display him properly. As time passed I regretted not getting him and eventually picked him on the bay loose with the podium but no plaque for right around retail or maybe a bit cheaper. I’m glad I have him in my collection and have Larry Zbyszko next to him. Now just need at the very least Graham, Pedro, and Backlund to join them.

RIP
He was before my time so I never watched him, I don’t own his figure. ..But whenever I was a kid wrestling with my dad he would say that he was Bruno Sammartino. I didn’t know who that was though, I started watching wwf in 85

He was the man -- a true great, maybe the greatest. From my hometown too so I'm biased, lol. As a kid, I only saw him as a commentator/interviewer in the early 80's for WWF. I will never forget the time he tried to fight Randy Savage in a backstage interview after the infamous Steamboat ringbell-to-the-throat incident. I mean, you really believed that Bruno wanted to kick his ass and the guys had to be separated. Great stuff.

His was an Elite figure that I was proud to display in my collection. No matter the emphasis of the current roster, or the absence of fellow stars from his era, Bruno always had a place up front for me. I wouldn't mind seeing Mattel issue a repaint of his Elite figure. Maybe in green trunks? Just so long as we see him again in some form; I think he deserves that much.

Although I missed Sammartino’s era by some time I always heard his name referenced throughout the years and when I watched some of his matches/highlights I understood why he was so highly regarded. I’m glad I got his Jakks and Mattel figures ... their prices must be doubling right now on eBay lol

I highly suggest anyone who doesn't know much about Bruno to take a listen to his podcast interview with Chris Jericho. His interviews on the Wrestling Observer site are also very good if you have a subscription.

I didn’t know who that was though, I started watching wwf in 85 Bruno was doing commentary and still wrestling very sporadically around that time. He wrestled at the 2nd Wrestlemania. He was in one of the best, Piper's pits ever. It's on the Network I'm pretty sure. Piper calls him a "Wop" and Sammartino slaps him SO HARD he flies off the stool and halfway across the ring into the ropes. It led to a match at their next MSG event I believe.

It's a really good interview and you learn a lot about the WWWF and how the wrestling business was before Bruno became a part of it. Great listen!

I happily bought the Elite 25 Bruno (along with the Brodus) years ago. Mattel did an awesome job with it capturing Sammartino's likeness, easily one of their best figures. The accessories were fun too. Might buy Jakks' version of him as well.

Yes he was still doing commentary then. And that Pit was great. I remember a couple tag matches vs Piper and at least one match where he tagged with his son David in the mid 80’s. Though his prime was before my time...I sarted watching wrestling in the mid 70’s around the end of his second reign while I vaguely remember some of his matches in the 70’s those matches in the 80’s were the matches I truly remember him in. He was truly a legend.

I have his Ljn, Jakks and Mattel figure. The only one I don't have is his FTC figure. Here's a Jakks CS fig I got signed a few years ago when I met him. RIP !
