I think this is frivolous. How many games has he been in with those tattoos? And she's just NOW deciding that she wants to sue? It's an imagery likeness that has been reproduced a ton of times.

It was because it was a Led Zeppelin logo. Band logos cost royalties to use. This is exactly what she is now suing for.

She brought it up in 2009. They offered her 450 dollars for use and she refused it which I don’t blame her. It’s one thing if the person getting tattooed came up with the design but if these are her own art designs that she came up with she has every right to sue.

This is just downright a pathetic thing to do in my opinion. If a product needs to reproduce someone's likeness, they should reproduce them in the most accurate way possible. A tattoo has been made part of someone's body. It should not be anyone else's right to claim. The fact that she can even attempt to sue is a joke in my view. I don't care if it is a copyrighted logo. It's still part of his body. The only one who should have a right to it is him.
Copyright is supposed to be there to safeguard someone stealing the work of someone else and claiming to own it. It should not be applicable in a situation such as this, where 2K are just reproducing a living person's likeness, and not trying to claim ownership of his tattoos.

That's why 2k is getting sued by basketball players tattoo artists.
And also why Madden doesn't have tattoos, except for 3 guys. And that's because their artist signed over waivers.
It's an odd thing for sure.

This is incredibly stupid. By this logic, every tattoo artist could sue the company for using one of their designs on a figure or in a video game. Where does it end? A band logo or name is different because they can actually prove they collect royalties when people use/see their image. This lady has got nothing.

I wonder how this figures in with stuff like action figures and trading cards then...

Jericho has Metallica's Justic for All on his forearm, and Eddie the head of Iron Maiden on his other, some kinda Kiss Demon / Nessie creater, along with the Rolling Stones logo... the tattoo I meant was the one on his chest, looks like some kinda viking warrior.

But none of those make it on video games or action figures or merch to my knowledge. That's the difference I think.

Betcha this is going to force WWE to create a release for talent to get signed before they get a tattoo. To protect themselves in the future.

She's seriously trying to claim sort of copyright to some squiggly lines, a bunch of skulls, roses, and bible verses. She should be laughed out of the courts, but only after the judge berates her with a hearty "It ain't the Mona Lisa. Get over yourself."

Wait, does this mean my arms are copyrighted? I've never had anything put on my skin that I didn't design. Well, except for a Mega Man character.

That’s why most players in the Madden games don’t have their tattoos. If I remember correctly the players that do have had to get a release from their tattoo artists. Or they had to sign some sort of contract.
