Why is it just because NY Signs a player they are "buying" a championship or the player is just out for the money. Because teams like Tampa Bay spend a little bit over $20 million for the whole team.

Actually, it might be Triple-A he was sent down to. Rotoworld says Single-A, but I read Triple-A elsewhere.
Oh, well...wherever he is, he still sucks.

The Yankees went back on their word a few years ago about not giving into Clemens, and its fine, I dont blame the Yankees at all for this, they were desperate and they did what needed to be done. My beef is people saying Clemens did this for the love of NY, or best chance to win etc. He did it cuz the Yankees BLEW the Red Sox out of the water It's who he is, he is a mercenary and a douche. We pay $28 mil for a hall of fame pitcher who had the lowest era in major leagues last year. A pitcher who, a former red sox we LOVE (at least me and the Yankee fans i know do).........and yet you all pay $103 million for a japanese pitcher whos unproven and until this year never pitched against a major league line up.....Now whereas I like the Dice-K frenzy why is it when we sign our "savior" like you did with Dice-K (needless to say your starting rotation was horrible last year) We use mercenarys and are just "buying championships" again I think Red Sox fans have to understand something. Yes the Yankees have the highest payroll but Boston is sitting right there in 2nd. IF anyteam is gonna be bitching and crying about teams buying world series it shouldnt be boston or NY fans it should be teams like Tampa Bay, Baltimore etc

But I must agree with you, there is no way Boston is any better with the way they payed for Daisuke. And as a Twins fan - with Carl Pohlad as an owner who's got more money than Steinbrenner, but isn't willing to open his wallet - I feel I have every right to bitch about the Yanks buying Championships.

They also pay $3 for a beer at TB where you pay like $10 at Yankee Stadium. Im suprised people havent noticed that Bigger city teams (NY, Boston, Los Angeles) have higher payrolls! You can blame it on John Henry or George Steinbrenner but i think ultimately it comes down to the city. Boston and NY fans both demand to win and win at all costs. Maybe if TB fans demanded to win or at least would pack the stadium like they do at Fenway and Yankee Stadium that TB would spend more money? ?

Thats one thing i can say about Sox and Yanks, They are willing to give their fans what they want at any cost. However i think the Sox fans appreciate it more then Yankee fans.

Believe me, I do my fair share of complaining about Pohlad not opening his wallet. Then again, if it weren't for teams like the Yanks and Sox constantly overpaying, he wouldn't have to open his wallet so much to get the best players. Imagine Major League Baseball with a salary cap.

My favorite player in baseball is a Cub (Soriano) but as a yankee fan i know its better for the team to have A-Rod and Cano then to have Soriano and Aaron Boone, Yet A-Rod can hit a walk off HR at Yankee Stadium and be Cheered and then in the first inning of the next game get Booed for striking out. Ive always said i was a Yankees fan but im not a fan of (all) Yankees fans

Clemens stands to earn about $10,000 per pitch.

I would trade our owner for your pitching prospects in a heartbeat. -- But yeah even as a Yankees fan I think it's a little ridiculous what we're paying Clemens. I don't get how they have not learned that what we need is younger guys, not more 40+ year olds. Granted, I would take Clemens over guys like Pavano/Wright/etc, but on the same token I'd much rather have 3 or 4 decent prospects that aren't going to retire and then come back midseason the next year.

I love all the crying about Clemens and the attempts to rationalize why it's such a bad thing.
I already told you. It's just the Yankees being the Yankees. That makes it ok.

I agree completely with you also. What bugs me is just when we pay $28mil for Clemens everyone makes a HUGE deal of it because he signed with the Yankees but if he signed for $22mil (which isnt that much of a diff pro sports wise) with Houston nobody would care. It would be just welcome back Roger and goodluck. Im a Yankees fan and im a fan of Yankees players. I cheered for Pettitte and Clemens in Houston, Soriano in Chicago and Boone in Cleveland. I didnt curse Clemens for retiring from NY only to turn and sign with Houston. I think the signing of a 44yo Clemens is a great addition to NY right now. If they signed him to a 4 year contract that would be stupid OR i they signed Maddox or Wells, then yea i would be upset but for NOW Im happy with clemens and I, like you, await for the day to see the new Yankee Dynasty led by Wang, Hughes, Cano, Tabata etc

Nobody would care BECAUSE HE LIVES THERE ALREADY Thats like sayin it wouldnt be a big deal if Jeter became a free agent and signed with the Tigers because his family lives in Michigan. Nothing is ever a big deal until the Yankees get involved.

If Jeter actually does something like this in 15 years then it prob wont be a big deal if he lives there already and is spending time with his family. and hey mike

Chris Capuano vs Steve Shmuck in about 40 minutes. The best team vs the worst team in baseball. Its either going to be another series where we score 28 runs in 3 games and allow 4 . OR They sweep us. LOL Im going to go with the first.
