Hey guys! I'm thinking about picking up a beat up LJN Big Bossman on a lower priced deal to see if I could work my customizing magic in him. I'm generally a Hasbro/Retro guy, though. I'm afraid Goof-Off will be WAY too strong for this rubber. Does anyone have any suggestions for a solution to get this old ink off him? Thanks!

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser might work. But it might also take the original paint of, too.
Mercurochrome is also a possibility, but that might also harm the rubber.
Then again, nail polish remover works quite well.

Straight acetone works well, but you have to be really careful with it, as it eats the rubber if you use too much or don't wash it off. It'll also get rid of any paint it comes into contact with so...
But I don't see anything working on THAT figure

That looks like straight sharpie on rubber...Nothing is getting that off.....NOTHING! The only thing you can do is repaint the skintone and hide it.

Unfortunately, it's a lost cause. Any type of ink that seeps into the rubber like that - especially if it's been sitting on the figure for years - is impossible to remove. You might be able to minimize some of the ink, but it will only slightly fade. And by the look of the figure, I think the original owner has already tried to clean Bossman up. I had purchased a Popy Andre the Giant figure several months ago that was in bad shape; someone had drawn on the figure's face. I tried every method of cleaning that I knew and every single one had failed to remove the ink. I did get the color of the ink to lighten a bit, but the ink was still visible. The only solution for me was to repaint the face of the figure; exactly what Nivro said.
