That was honestly a pretty poorly executed figure and it warmed shelves in my area for a long time. It's a shame because it a few simple things could've made it much better. I wish mattel would try again with Sid. I think the figure is great. You can nit pick over parts all you want. These didnt sell because the kiddies dont know who Sid is. When a child goes to the store, and can only get 1 figure, they are more likely to buy the figure of a guy they are familiar with. This is why some flashbacks peg warm. Tito, Sid, and other flash backs linger on shelves because kids dont know who they are. Adult collectors will buy those flashbacks before the current roster guys. But kids buy who ever is current. There are more children buying toys than there are adults.

Clearly they made way too many of that figure. Both my walmarts had at least 100 of them and our tru had dozens and dozens as well. I count 23 in that picture alone. When they first showed up at my walmart i knew there was gonna be a big problem.
We went from getting a few boxes of each elite wave (and they didnt all sell out, they sold ok) to all of a sudden elite 39 wallpapered all across the toy section just before christmas.
Its a shame they made so many because itll be a long time before they make another elite sid, if ever

It's cool if you like it. As somebody who grew up watching the guy,I was excited when he was announced but the parts choices, hair color, face, and general lack of detail was a major let down for me and just did not not come close to the high bar that mattel had set for itself.

As a kid my wrestling figures were solid rubber. I thought they looked great and even though they had zero articulation, I had a great time playing with them. Then Hasbros. They looked much more cartoonish and were a hard plastic with limited movement, but still I had a great time playing with them. You can nit pick parts choices and likenesses all day long. The fact remains that this is the only option you have for a new sid figure, when you go to the store. You might not like the hair color, but what other toy maker has a Sid figure available for you? For me it's more about the fun of seeing and getting a new Sid figure than it is me wanting an exact replica of the man's face. They can announce certain guys and if they didn't get the hair right or something is off with the colors I'll still buy it. Mainly because I'd rather see Mattel make a Sid or Tito instead of another Cena or Another Cena.

Its a great underrated simple figure, I love it. Its just not appreciated right now but just as with the legends which almost all rotted on shelves look how highly sought after they all are now...

I've always passed on that Sid fig. Just too many issues with it for me. Not tall enough is one. The wrong hair color is another. The biggest one is that facescan, good idea in theory, it just didn't make for a good toy.

Mainly because I'd rather see Mattel make a Sid or Tito instead of another Cena or Another Cena. To go one further, as a kid if you would have told me I'd have SCSA, Sting, Hulk Hogan, Razor Ramon, Lex Luger, Andre the Giant, and The Rock all in the same style figure with a ton of articulation, high detail, and many with cloth accessories, I'd have lost my mind. To a certain extent I think we've been spoiled with just how much ground Mattel has covered with this toy line. The bar has been set incredibly high, so you get people bickering over which bicep part would have been most accurate, skin tones, or what midcard wrestlers we're missing.

I don't think we've been spoiled, it's just the matter of times we live in and the technology which is why we expect more and better. We've seen great work from Mattel and also really bad. When something isn't done right, it should be questioned. Specifically when it comes to part choices that Mattel already has. Anyways, I thought the Sid headscan was good, it was the bad part choices, crapty paintjob, lack of white socks and glossed boots that made him lose points for me. Other than that he's a good figure, I think Mattel could of chosen better parts overall.

If I walked in and found did for 7$ or less I'd buy as many as I could afford.
My tit's r us had spotlight hhh for 4$ only had 3 so I took them. If there was 10 I'd have 10.

One of only two non-Retro Mattel figures that I own - he was the last one left in my TRU before it closed, and since he was from my generation of fandom I decided to buy one last wrestling figure at the TRU that built my Hasbro collection 25 years earlier.
There were three of him left, and after all the clearance discounts he cost a little over £3 (around $4) so I’d guessed he wasn’t popular, but he has an important place in my collection as the final TRU figure I ever bought.

Im sure distribution hurt this figure but this should have been a lesson to Mattel that JAKKS quickly understood. When you're dealing with a "collectors market" its best if you get input from the collectors and not just "make whatever the you want". I realize your regular line of current guys are a much larger fan base and Wfigs doesnt even make a small percentage of that however between here and other toy forums is where the majority of your collectors are. Little Timmy & his mama Jane dont go to Walmart going "Gosh I hope we can find the new Papa Shango figure" If they would have came here and said "Hey we want to make Sid with a way too ripped torso & skinny ass legs, would you like that?" we could have easily suggested something better....Remember the Bob Backlund figure that Jeremy brought up on his site? Fans nixed that quickly and JAKKS produced a great looking figure.

Fans nixed that quickly and JAKKS produced a great looking figure. I could be mistaken here, didnt Jakks contract the wrestlers themselves? Where as Mattel does as told by WWE? I dont know why this Sid has stock piled. I just think that Kiddies don't know who Sid is so they passed on buying this figure. I think Mattel could have been on here and similar message boards all day every day to please every collector and Sid still would have lingered. I dont know how you decide what to buy, as far as figures. But are you telling me you believe collectors didnt buy this figure because of parts choices? As a collector I have come to think that with Mattel, some, characters will only get 1 figure. So when I see a Sid, Tito, Warlord, Tully, and so on, get a figure I buy it. I buy it because I love flashbacks. And also because I realize that may well be the only figure we get of that person. WWE is a coin toss when it comes to there characters. One day you might walk into Walmart and find 30 Hogans on the pegs. The next day you'll see Andre the Giant tripping and being pinned by the air at Wrestlemania 3. They quickly turn their back on guys that were their main stars at one time. So as a collector while I might not think highly of a figure I buy it because that may be the only shot we get at a particular individual.

I think the odd scan and plain black attire really hurt this figure. I feel like if they would have swapped the two, and made Sycho Sid the basic and Sid Justice the Elite, possibly with a stretcher/gurney, it would have sold better. As a basic, you could have even put Sycho Sid in a battle pack with the Undertaker or a "Fantasy Warfare" set with Braun Strowman, and it would have moved.
