Ronda Rousey has only wrestled one match on pay-per-view so far, and it was a mixed tag team match at WrestleMania 34, but Rousey will be making her return to pay-per-view next month and WWE has confirmed she will challenge Nia Jax for the Raw Women’s Championship.
With so many other stars on the roster gunning for the title, some may think that it’s a little too soon for Rousey to get a shot at the belt, but it appears that WWE officials don’t have many other options.
WWE decided they can’t ignore Rousey for another pay-per-view, and they don’t want her to compete in the ladder match at Money in the Bank.
Furthermore, WWE didn’t want Rousey to lose a qualifying match, so they were left with no other choice but to book her to face Nia Jax.

They could have just finished what they started with Mickie James, having her challenge Rousey, and just don't have Nia defend the title on the show.

Does not really answer the question why. They literally could have had her in a tag match. Or a one on one with Mickie. So, this makes no sense.

Hell, if that's all it takes, I may as well start up a dirt sheet too.
You want to know why Ronda is fighting for the title? Because nobody can write a storyline for crap anymore. They have ZERO idea what to do with Ronda aside from parade her around and crow about having another crossover athlete on the payroll.
If she fights Nia and Natalya costs her the match, it's still the same thing as her taking an L in a MITB qualifying match. Who gives a hug if she loses? Hey, guess what? We already saw her get her ass kicked FOR REAL. Taking a loss in a scripted match doesn't matter. Besides...I THOUGHT WINS AND LOSSES DON'T MATTER!
Also, this just adds more fuel to the idea that they don't know how to have face and heel women. Because you know what, Ronda and Nia are both supposed to be faces. So we're either going to have zero heat to the build for this match, or they're going to have to turn one of them heel...and now that Nia is in the bullying campaign, she can't be a heel. But you want to sell Ronda...so she can't either.
This whole thing is just infuriating.
WWE: Hey doc, it hurts when I stab myself with this knife.
Doctor: Well, stop stabbing yourself...
WWE: What? Why would I ever do that?

Honestly there isn't really anyone else on Raw that I'd rather get a title shot right now, so to me it's just whatever. *shrugs*

Logically, she should've been doing something with Natalya. But, logic isn't really an area where WWE excels, or even tries.

Should have had Ronda (with Natalya in her corner) vs Mickie (with Alexa in her corner). Then after Ronda gets the win, have Natalya turn on her. Then build to Natalya vs Ronda at SummerSlam. Then maybe have Ronda win the title around Survivor Series.

They have nobody to face Nia because they backed themselves into a corner having a f*cking whale as champion. None of the other women are believable opponents except the one who was a former UFC fighter lol

None of the other women are believable opponents except the one who was a former UFC fighter lol If Rey Mysterio can handle himself against someone like the Big Show then why aren't the other women believable against Nia? |

Because that was Mysterio's whole gimmick, an underdog. Booking wise it made sense that he found ways to fight off big show. None of the women have actual underdog characters where they can be booked to overcome the beast that is Nia |

Ronda is getting a title shot because it brings in outside eyes & money. WWE is a business, how many times do we have to go over this? MITB is just a forgettable PPV that most people wont be able to name. However with Ronda on the card its going to get much more coverage.
Also is pretty logical whats going to happen. Ronda gets the early shot. Nattie accompanies her to the ring but ends up getting jealous that she got the shot after 1 match & costs her the title. Ronda might not get pinned but shes not winning the title. It then thrusts Ronda into a feud with Nattie while Nia goes back to doing whatever it is Nia does.

She’s lost to Becky, Sasha, Asuka, and Bayley, and probably more but that’s just off the top of my head. |
