Dallas and Tampa both have tremendous followings in their regions for whatever reason. Tampa is especially strong, and Dallas has some fantastic support for their team.
Anyone know where Yashin is going to end up? I don't think he signs untill near the beginning of the season, if he even signs anywhere at all. He's gotta take a gigantic pay cut.

Boston was a huge Hockey town, bigger than Football even, but once the ownership took over and Neely and Captain Ray left, it went to the toilet

Get rid of Lang somehow. I kinda wishes Liv didnt leave, but he's back in Europe for 3 years. Fernadez or Abishe.... however you spell his name would be good with Ozzie backing him up.

I wouldn't mind Aebischer or Fernandez either, but the best bet is still Hasek.

And Toronto re-signs Sundin.... Oh look a No Trade Clause! How....Usual.
At least one year for the Swedish Boy.

The playoffs aren't even a week over and I'm already reading Smyth to Toronto rumours. Smyth will never sign with the Maple Leafs... He's too young to sign with the Maple Leafs. Personally, I would like to see Smyth stay with the Islanders.

The Islanders got MURDERED in that trade to get Ryan Smyth. If he doesn't re-sign with them, they gave a crap load away just to have him for only the second half of the season. If they were going to deal away as much as they did for him, they should have worked out an extension ahead of time.

I have a feeling Smyth will test the free agency waters. He's not going back to Edmonton, so I think it's either the Islanders, Detroit, or maybe some team like Boston (maybe, not sure) that has some money to throw around. If it does end up being a team like Boston, I expect Smyth to get WAY overpaid, especially if Briere made 6 mil last season or whatever ridiculous amount it was. Nice to see Sundin resign with the Leafs. He's their heart and soul and definently the glue that holds them together. Now, just get the ing guy a winger already.

Chelios is back for another year, as he just signed a one year deal with the Wings again. Tremendous signing and a very important one. Schneider and Hasek are reportedly close to re-signing as well.

He's a free agent. He is gone. (Or as good as gone)

Lang ain't coming back. Filpulla, Franzen, or Cleary could easilly step up and take the second line center spot, then all you need to do is resign Bertuzzi and then maybe Slava Kozlov and you've got a killer second line. I'm all for Kozlov coming back. The dude can produce and he's clutch.

Personally, I can't see Smyth in a Red Wings uniform...
It's a possibility that he could be heading to Boston, why not? Rebuild around Smyth... Rebuild The Bruins, I'm all for that.

Why? He's nowhere near the player he used to be. I'll take Kozlov.

Hasek is back for another year. Best deal in hockey. Now resign Schneider and Bertuzzi!

Mike Keenan's being considered for the coaching job in Calgary. Calgary would be Keenan's kind of team. Gritty.. hard-hitting. Should be a nice fit if it goes through.

Mike Keenan is the new Head Coach of the Flames
Chris Gratton waived his no-trade clause and was dealt back to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday in exchange for a second-round draft pick. The pick can either be used in this year's draft or it can be saved until the 2008 draft. Gratton scored 13 goals and finished with 35 points in 81 games with the Panthers.

The NHL Awards are on tonight on Versus. Trish Stratus is going to be one of the presenters for an award, apparently.
I know it's a long shot, but I'd love it if Lundqvist won the Vezina. I think Luongo gets it, though.

Why? He's nowhere near the player he used to be. I'll take Kozlov. In my opinion, Fedorov should switch to playing defense... he does this from time to time, and is a great player on D. He is still a very good skater/defensive player.
