Is there anything that can be done to prevent people that steal the belts out of Thebes packages

As long as they have flap opening packages, it will happen.
Bringing it up to store employees will barely help, if at all. It’s a non-issue to most of them, since can get their money back from most distributors and possibly still sell the product at a clearances price.

That’s not a horrible idea. I don’t know why people are so pathetic but just don’t include them anymore. Sell them separately and see if people are bold enough to steal them. Right now they probably justify it in their minds by saying I’m stealing the accessory not the whole product. But I’d the belt were the whole product they might be too scared.

You could put either rubber bands or the plastic ties they are using now through the holes on the belt and fasten it to the package. It's not fool proof, but those things are a pain in the ass to get off when you actually BUY a figure and take it home to open it, I don't think you're gonna be able to do this in the isle.
It took me like 11 minutes to get my TNF Jason Jordan out of the box because I didn't have scissors and they strapped his arms and legs in with hard plastic ties. Putting those through the holes in the belt or around the belt could make it a lot harder.
Just suggestion.

Not much you can do with plastic/card stock packaging. People just cut/open the package for the belt or figure with a knife or razor blade. Remember seeing many Mattel rings with Goldberg missing? Most all were cut open. Or they just buy the figure & return it w/o the belt or actual figure. You aren’t gonna stop stealing & swappers. Most store will even return open blister packages.

Would make it that extra bit more difficult to get it out.

Morality aside, I do wonder why this bothers people so much. Again, I'm not condoning or advocating for it, but the person found the figure before you and, had they not returned it sans belt, would have still prevented you from finding and buying it.

I really can't think of any way to stop it. There will always be people figuring out various ways to steal no matter what they try-making life more miserable for the rest of us. I loved the collector friendly packaging idea which allows you to both enjoy the figures and put them back in the package for display/safety whenever you want. But again, ideas like that are easily ruined by theft....You really can't win.

And that seems like an easily concealable object for a thief. Especially a female with a purse. Also, not to condone it, but key knives seem made for thieves.

But if it’s still on the sales floor then it’s not out of inventory to be reordered therefore it steals the next persons opportunity to find it again at that store after the fact.

That doesn’t apply for stealing them in the store tho.

Isn't really a way to prevent people stealing them when they're not actually doing it in stores. People buy the figure, swap the belt and return it. Just last week I saw a Walgreens Becky with the Smackdown Women's title swapped with a different belt.
