I'm disappointed they cut out all the sequels, but I'm still intrigued by this.
I'm dying for a low budget remake of Friday the 13th. I'd even have it take place in the 70's.

They are doing what they have done with the Texas Chainsaw franchise where Texas Chainsaw 3D was a direct sequel to the original. On another note I think that Halloween Resurrection should never have been made. Totally ruined the ending of H20. Also I think Danielle Harris asked to be part of the new movie but was turned down.

Super stoked for this movie! Was worried about them ignoring everything after the original, especially Laurie and Michael being siblings, but I like the possibilities of how much further they can take the story. More excited knowing John Carpenter is back in some fashion than I am for Jamie Lee Curtis.

I finally saw the movie yesterday. I bought the Blu Ray on Amazon because I hate going to the movies because I hate people. I thought it was a good movie. I really liked it and felt that it was right on par with the original. There were a lot of callbacks to the original movie. Obviously it will suffer by comparison because it did not give us anything that we have not seen already, but as a fan, I think it gave me what I wanted. I'm going to go into a spoiler section because I want to state some things and ask some questions and not ruin it for people that haven't seen it yet.
I was a little unsure and have only seen the movie once, so maybe I missed it and need to re-watch...did Dr. Sartain HELP Michael crash the bus and escape, or did he snap once Michael was finally "in the wild" and then decided to aid him because he always wanted to see what he would do?
That was the only thing I was unclear about, and again, I might have missed it because I've only seen it once and I was watching it at work, lol.
But I really liked the movie, and I liked the role reversal at the end where rather than waiting for Michael to pop out like usual, we were following him waiting for LAURIE to pop out. I thought that was a really nice touch and, again, cemented that the roles were now reversed.
The kid that was being babysat was HILARIOUS.
The level of the booby traps in Laurie's house might have been a little overkill. That's my only real complaint about the movie. I saw that as a bit over the top. It was soooo complicated and probably would have cost a fortune to set all that up.
The writers have said they are beginning work on a sequel to the movie...I'm not sure how I feel about that because this movie would have served as a nice wrap up to the Franchise. Obviously we did not see Michael die, but it would be a stretch to explain how anyone could have survived that.
But the movie did so well financially that I guess we can't ask the people involved to leave money on the table and not make another movie just because it might tarnish it for fans.
It's like Disney making Toy Story 4 or Shawn Michaels coming out of retirement....money always prevails over not wanting to "spoil a perfect ending".
But as a fan, I think Halloween 2018 was good enough and respected the original enough and gave me what I wanted as a fan, so I will definitely watch the next Halloween.

Too ambiguous to know for sure, but I'd bet that Sartain helped Michael escape. By this time, not only was he completely sympathetic towards, and one could say he saw himself as a caretaker or father figure to Michael, but he had also obviously gone around the bend as well. Notice how Michael didn't kill any of his fellow inmates after the crash? That's probably why he spared Sartain. He knew Sartain was insane as well.
He only killed him after he dared to put on his mask.

I finally saw this the other night, wasn't a huge fan. I love Halloween movies but this one didn't really do much for me. I do like the concept and the nod it made to older movies but It wasn't as good as I'd hoped it would be.

After watching the deleted and extended scenes, they definitely should have kept some in there. Some are too important to the story.

I would have liked it if they kept the scenes featuring the teenagers. Both deleted scenes with them gave more development to Cameron's character and tied up his story for this movie, whereas he just disappears in the movie itself. The director mentioned that he has plans for Cameron if they make a sequel. In fact, after seeing this a few times now it seems like they intentionally left some loose ends in case they make another movie.

The movie is even scarier when you realize Michael Myers is a senior citizen.

I think he did man...... I feel like it was a little too ambiguous to consider that to be the reason. It very well could have been what happened. It was foggy as hell during that scene so maybe the driver swerved to avoid something and lost control. Also one of my favorite parts is a blink and you'll miss it part. Go back and watch when the podcaster goes to the gas station to ask where the bathroom is...you may or may not see Michael in the background hammering the out of the mechanic.

I re-watched the movie again last night.
I still can not make a decision one way or another if Sartain helped Michael crash the bus, or if Michael even crashed the bus. The bus could have just crashed and Michael could have taken advantage of that.
But as far as Michael killing Sartain, in the scene where Michael is in the back of the cop car, I noticed that he didn't wake up until Sartain said the name "Judith". This was when Allyson was lying to Sartain that Michael spoke to her and he's like "what did he say? Was it the sisters name? Judith?" and then as soon as he says Judith you see Michael's hand make a fist and he busts through the back of the cop car.
So clearly it didn't matter if Sartain cared about or helped Michael or what their relationship had been for the past 40 years....once he said "Judith" it was head stomp city.
However I did unfortunately watch a YouTube review that make me think of something that kinda ruined a HUGE chunk of the movie for me.
The boyfriend really served no purpose. He just disappeared. It seems as if the entire portion of the movie where they are in school talking about the dance, at the dinner, and then the actual dance itself was all just to explain why Allyson left the party with no phone. I think there were probably other ways that took fewer scenes that could have gotten her into the same situation.
I didn't really think about it until I watched the review.
I still liked the movie a lot the 2nd time. I'll probably watch it a few more times to try and pick up stuff happening in the background and on the edges of the screen and see what other nods and callbacks to the other Halloween movies I can see.

I wanted him DEAD, not just arrested. He was such a douche. Would have been so much better if he jealously followed Allyson when she left the party with the weirdo kid and if Michael had killed them both after Allyson stormed off.
He needed to die after the way he treated her and I'm shocked they didn't give the audience that satisfaction. These movies always have at least one super douchey character and they always die in the most spectacularly satisfying ways.

I'm more happy the weirdo friend got Halloween'd than the unresolved plotline with Cam. The friend was so damn annoying. And not in a so bad its good sorta thing. He got on my nerves much like Ruby ing Rhod does.

Watched this finally. I liked it. Did what a true sequel needed, without the backstory of the rest of the franchise.
