I was so stoked for these but now I’m just kinda eh with them. I’ll get them eventually. June and July is always an expensive month for me haha. Between Prides, the Aaliyah collection, Comic Cons..:I’m broke anyway 😂

The new 5 pack is great, but I only care about owning the Stephanie one..
I hope they sell her individually, but I doubt it

I have no interest in owning any of these but that five pack looks sick, especially Steph

Yeah, this 5-pack looks EXACTLY like what should have been happening from the beginning. Colorful gear, and all very diverse looking.
I also give them credit for changing Sasha's haircolor (something that should have been happening on every Sasha doll) to make the variations more collectible for kids. Next step is to change the makeup (even subtly like just lipstick color). No little girl (or collector) wants the same face paint over & over.

I'm sure many of you will agree, if boys or men want to collect dolls or play with them, that is 100% cool. I think especially on here that we're all pretty progressive about that since we're mostly grown men playing with toys to begin with and we enjoy it.
But......I think they overestimated the market for it and how willing others would be at accepting it. I overheard kids ask why dolls were in the "boys" aisles. There's still very strictly enforced gender stereotypes and I just don't think the time was right to market these things in the "boys" section, away from the eyes of girls who might have never left the "girl" section and more importantly the parents who definitely wouldn't have if they were shopping for a girl.
Also, the market might have just been too small to begin with. Until these hit 70 and 80 percent off they weren't moving at TRU.

I’m not sure why these dolls are not next to the Barbies to begin with because it will definitely attract the girls more than he boys. Plus someone mentioned earlier, I doubt collectors are going to buy more than one of the same doll. Reselling it is pointless and there isn’t really a demand for custom doll outfits. I think at the end of the day, WWE just wanted to have these dolls just to say “hey our women wrestlers have dolls too!” I don’t think they necessarily care about sales at this point. It sucks for them because if they are able to market it better, they definitely could have made a profit from them. I’d suggested earlier in a post to make limited Axxess-exclusive dolls for a higher price. I think that will be a good approach for these dolls

I think Mattel is invested in the sales, though. But I agree with all of you who questioned aisle placement. I appreciate that toy companies and questioning the gender divide, but there's different ways to do that. Rather than go Girls/Boys, just have action figure aisles, car aisles, doll aisles, building block aisles.
Like, if there's a desire to create less of a gender divide, then just put all the 12" dolls together in the doll aisle. Meaning 12" Star Wars, 12" WWE, 12" Marvel, 12" DC, 12" DC Superhero Girls, 12" Miraculous Ladybug, etc. Barbie, of course, needs her own aisle just by virtue of the amount of product she has. But putting the 12" dolls in with the 6" action figures didn't work and just made the WWE Superstars stick out oddly.

I agree, they're shooting themselves in the foot by putting the brand before common sense. The DC girls dolls are farther away and they've been making those for years, girls might think "Ew, I don't go to the stinky boys section" and boys'll be like "I don't want people thinking I'm looking at these pencil neck sissy dolls", it hurts the crossover appeal, imo.
