Lorenz, who the you kidding, if the Yankees win the wild card and then win the World Series, you will flip out and go nuts like every other Yankee fan in the world. You wont sit on your hands and pretend like its a fake World Series. Booo to you sir Let's be honest.....The Yankees are NOT winning the World Series, ok? They might MAKE the Playoffs as the Wild Card, but they will get knocked out in the first round, and here's why: - The offense is way too streaky, they have WEEKS, not just DAYS, WEEKS where they can't score any runs, if that happens in the Playoffs you're dead, you don't have time to bust out of slumps. There will be no teams in the Playoffs with "Devil-Ray" like bullpens, so don't look for the Yankees to be able to tee-off on people in the Playoffs, even years where the Yankees were GOOD in the Playoffs and won the Championship, runs are hard to come by in the Postseason. - The starting rotation can't hang with other teams young flame throwers. Mike Mussina and Roger Clemens are BARELY 6.0 inning pitchers against teams like the Royals and Devil Rays....Just like I said with the offense, except for the NL West, no sub par .500 teams make the Playoffs, so they won't have young inexperienced hitters that go fishing and expand the strike zone. Mussina, Clemens and Pettitte all top out around 91 MPH, thats target practice for Playoff caliber hitters, as we see in the regular season every time the Yankees play a contender they lose the series and it takes 4 game sets against the D-Rays, O's, and Royals to get us back in the Playoff hunt. But then we play the Red Sox, Angels, Oakland and Seattle and we give it all back. - The bullpen is probably one of the WORST in baseball. In a Playoff series it is so important that when your starters need to leave the game to bring in lights out, firballing relievers. Last year, every single person coming out of that Detroit bullpen threw 97+ on their fastballs and the Yankees just couldn't catch up. So as a life long baseball fan who has seen the highs and lows of this team since I was born in 1984, it is my belief that due to a streaky offense, pitching that can't get deep in games, and an awful bullpen that IF the Yankees make the Playoffs, they will be eliminated in the 1st round.
