Matt Cappotelli's wife Lindsay announced that Matt has passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer. The former Tough Enough star died today at the age of 38 and here is the statement from Lindsay on Facebook:
"Hey Team Capp…I’ve been struggling with what to say and how to say this, and I’ll probably end up rambling, but here goes. Today my love-my strong, sweet, beautiful love-took his last breath at 3:30 a.m. and went Home to be with Jesus…exactly one year after his brain surgery. You think you can be prepared for this when you know it’s coming, but you just can’t. The only person who’s comfort I want right now is the one who can’t give it to me. I miss him so much. I know where he is now is so much better, but it doesn’t change how much I miss him."

I pretty much never cry over wrestlers or any celebs passing. I cried for Eddie. I cried for Chris. I’m crying for Matt.
Dude fought so hard and went through so much. I remember when he first got diagnosed and had the emotional send off on OVW’s tv show. Seemed like such a genuinely good guy and was hoping the worst was behind him.

This is definitely one of those death, where the phrasing, of he deserves his rest now, qualifies. The poor guy fought for, what a decade. At least he was able to find happiness in that horrible time, by finding his wife, and while it didn't last, he at least got to experience part of his dream. He did the very best he could with the crap hand that life ended up giving him. RIP.

While I am gutted for hearing about this, I enjoyed watching him on Tough Enough III. I have heard nothing but good things. As stated before, I am glad he lived his dream and can be a case for somebody to never give up and fight to the end.

Such sad news! I was hoping he'd live until at least wrestlemania where he'd get the Warrior award! Maybe he still will. I've read a few wrestlers comment on his passing. I hope Bob Holly doesn't have the nerve to say anything. Not only because of Tough Enough, but Matt was supposed to debut on the main roster, but got injured by Bob at a house show before Matt could. So condolences from Mr Holly won't mean crap!
RIP Matt Cappottelli!

WWE.com had some tweets from some wrestlers on his passing
John Morrison My first best friend in the wrestling business and to this day one of the best people I’ve ever known Matt Cappotelli has passed on. I’m gutted about this news. Matt inspired everyone around him especially me early in my career. He is loved and will be missed.
Kassius Ohno Crushed to hear about the passing of Matt Cappotelli. He was talented, passionate & possessed a heart of GOLD. Everyone should fight as hard as Matt fought. Condolences to his friends, family & the countless others he touched on his journey. Rest In Peace Capp.
Shelton Benjamin Saddened to hear of the passing of Matt Cappotelli. He’s was a great guy who deserved so much more. R.I.P. Brother
The Miz In 2005, Matt Cappotelli & I were gonna be brought up to WWE Smackdown as the tag team “Reality Check.” One day out of no where he called me and said that he had just been diagnosed w/ brain cancer. On the phone, even with this scary news he remained positive and was gonna fight to beat cancer. He has been fighting for his life ever since. Every time I saw him he was positive and always had a smile on his face. Today, we lost a good one. A true fighter. My condolences to his wife and family. Matt, you will be missed my friend. #RIPMatt #TeamCapp
Drake Maverick RIP #MattCappotelli What a wonderful brave man. You fought harder than anyone could ever imagine. Rest peacefully. Condolences to the family x
Lance Storm Very saddened to hear that Matt Cappotelli passed away. I had the privilege of working with and getting to know Matt during my time in OVW. If everyone strived to be even half the human being Matt was the world would be a wonderful wonderful place. #RIP
Tommy Dreamer Blessed to know Matt Cappotelli since his wrestling journey began He was more Hardcore & Tougher Enough than any person I've ever known Glad to have reconnected w/him He never stopped fighting or questioned his faith Great human being

RIP to Matt. It sucks that he passed so young but it doesn’t suck that he fought and he’s no longer in pain.

I really do hope they give him the 10 bell salute Monday. He deserves it. Such a talented young man, that was robbed of a career.
