So having collected figures for the past 4 years I can only feel we are about to experience a running change! Constantly there are complaints left right and centre about certain superstars being omitted from the normal elite line.
So my question is would you oppose if our lines included 6 superstars which all incorporated part of a build a figure? So basically how we got guys like Jr and Michael Cole...but on a bigger scale!
An example of the line could be; Elite 70 build a Zeus:- -Aj Styles with head -Curtis Axel with right arm -Bo Dallas with left arm -Drew McIntyre with legs -Nia Jax with torso -Velveteen Dream with Zeus' shoulder pad jacket
Granted it would be frustrating having to collect every figure to get what you want, however it will allow the main elite line to produce some superstars we wouldn't have otherwise seen! And in all I imagine this will also cut down on the volume of figures that shelf warm and ultimately get rid of those crappy stands that we constantly get!
*Disclaimer* I know there are a few people who like to pick holes in everything therefore I'm saying now, I do NOT know if Zeus is under contract I am purely using him as an example!

I like the idea but not the choices. There are a lot of old school collectors who wouldn't purchase those elites to get the one figure they want and the kids who want the elites couldn't care less about Zeus. I think it is best having the build-a-figure match the elites/basics you have to purchase to get the parts. A better choice would be purchase a Hogan, Savage, Warrior, DiBiase, Jake, etc. (in attires that we have not gotten yet) and you get the parts to build Zeus. The other thing that could work, have the build-a-figure be someone that people want and have the figures you need to get the parts be the figures you're not sure would sell, example: purchase Billy Graham, Bob Backlund, Pedro Morales, and Greg Valentine and you get the parts to 70s/80s Announcer Vince McMahon.

Even I would not pay $120 for a Zeus figure.

That was the whole purpose of the disclaimer! I could only think of Zeus at that moment in time haha. But i wholeheartedly know what you mean but for collectors like me, I'd rather spend more money and collect different elites (3 or 4 that i would have bought anyway) than hunt for an exclusive basic set that is sold only at target in order to get 1 figure I want... And the basic figures in the line usually suck! I was purely thinking that the elite line should discontinue those awful stands and add a build a figure part...because ultimately you look at lines such as marvel legends and they are leaps and bound more fun to collect than wwe purely for the baf. But that's my opinion and I'd love to hear everyone's ☺

The problem I have with the BAF concept is I don’t want any BAF that is the driving force of buying a set of figures. It should be a bonus for buying the set. The figures in the set need to be able to sell on their own merits. I don’t want the BAF to be the sole reason I am buying figures I normally wouldn’t buy, because then I will either pass on the BAF figure or just buy the figure with the BAF head and make my own. So as long as the BAF isn’t a top tier/ popular figure want I am fine with it.

But that's my opinion and I'd love to hear everyone's ☺ I agree, the exclusives can be difficult to hunt down. And, I wouldn't mind them adding more accessories in place of the stands and artwork. However, the one problem I have with a Build-a-Figure line is sometimes there are people in the line/wave that I don't want to purchase but would have to to get the build-a-figure. Like with the upcoming JJ Dillon wave. I'm not really a fan of Booker T and I don't really need another WCW Luger unless it is the early WCW Luger days in more colorful tights. So, to get J.J. Dillon I would have to purchase two figures I don't want just to get the build-a-figure. Same thing with the next Build-a-Set collection, I'll probably get Doink and Shawn Michaels but pass on Razor and Alundra Blayze. So now I'm stuck with only half a set, or I have to spend more money and purchase two figures I don't want. Luckily for me I don't care for the build-a-set parts, I keep the figures mint on card, but for those who do want the build-a-set (or build-a-figure) it presents a problem. Unfortunately I do not have an answer to what would make the collecting more fun, the build-a-set and build-a-figure lines are interesting and a great concept, but they can also be a problem for those who don't collect every figure that Mattel makes.

It doesn't really matter to me since I'm a MOC collector but I do think it would a good idea to try in the main elite line.
