I made this pre-order a while ago and almost forgot about it until recently, and yesterday the box from Ringside showed up. I was so hyped for 3 of these figures because the prototypes and final products online looked so good and in person, they look even better. Those 3 are Elias, Triple H and The Brian Kendrick. I also picked up another Seth Rollins TNF and decided to get his WM33 Basic to swap the heads on them (Even though the new Epic Moments Rollins is the exact fixup i'm doing, it doesn't bother me because i probably won't get that EM set)
When Elias was first shown as a render, i knew it was going to look great when the final product came out, so when they showed it earlier this year i was even more hyped for it. Elias' attire is simple with just the black but it works so well for him, his part choices work perfectly as he is a pretty jacked guy. His headscan is the highlight of the figure, his likeness is captured perfectly from the hair, beard and facial expression. The only real colour on him is on his wrist cloths, scarf and cuffs, and though it's just black, white, grey and red, they work well to give him just a bit more detail. And of course the Guitar completes Elias. I'll say it right now, so far, i think this Elias is in top 3 best figures of 2018.
I remember when Elias debuted on the main roster and so many people were saying things like 'Why him?' 'Elias Samson before ____?' and now, he's one of, if not in the top 3 most over/popular guys on RAW and even WWE in general. He's improved so much over the last year and he's now one of the highlights of RAW.
The only issues with this figure are: Like most new figures, his shoulders are stiff as hell, his waist is a little loose but not too bad and posing him with the Guitar is a bit tricky and takes some patience to get him to hold it right.
This Elite Triple H is fantastic, it definitely blows away the rest of his Elites (Except his Walgreen's DX Elite because i'm biased towards that attire). The whole figure in general screams 'badass' from the headscan, to his vest and his attire. Starting with his head, WOW, this is definitely the best Triple H headscan to date, the detail is incredible from his expression, beard, bald head, and even forehead wrinkles, Definitely the best headscan of 2018 so far. The body is the typical Triple H build which i'm fine with, his trunks designs are great and even remind me of his 2007 SummerSlam return attire (which would be a great Elite Mattel *wink* *wink*) He's got small black kneepads which i definitely prefer over the large, as well as white knee tape, which has always been one of my favourite things about Triple H when he wears that. His vest looks awesome and the sledgehammer is the typical one we see all the time.
Like Elias, he may be simple colour wise, but for what's there, it works perfectly. Put the vest on him and you have one of the best looking figures ever.
The only issues with this figure are: Again, his shoulders are pretty damn solid but they got a little better, his waist is a bit loose just like Elias' but a little worse and taking the vest off is a bit of a pain because of how fitted it is on him as well as it being a harder plastic.
When 205 Live began, i along with many other people were eagerly waiting for a Brian Kendrick figure, and were starting to get worried when it took so long to get one out. But it was worth the wait with the RSC Exclusive. I've always been a fan of Kendrick's, from his tag days with Paul London, all the way up to his 'career Renascence'. Him making a comeback after years away and to redeem himself from how he left gives me more reason to like him, plus if i were to ever become a wrestler, we would look pretty similar. His first Mattel figure is great, the face and attire are done perfectly for him. The crazy eyed face works well for Kendrick and his hair is sculpted nicely, i definitely prefer this look of Kendrick over his kind of 'baby face' look from the RA Era. His attire is simply just a greyish/silver and black but the pattern and shine of the silver stand out and look good. The belt isn't sculpted on but it didn't really need to be, it looks good just being painted on.
The part choices are perfect, he's not too big or too tall and work in scale good with other figures.
There's a couple issues with this figure and none of them are really on the figure itself but simply just his accessories. Firstly, the jacket has nice detail but like all rubber jackets, it's huge, bulky, looks bad on the figure and is a pain to get off. Like 'Build a Figures', i wish Mattel would try and incorporate that into the main like with jacket moulds so we can avoid this articulation hindering, bulky mess. Like the RSC Exclusive Balor, Kendrick's jacket will just live in the box.
Secondly, his flag is nice and detailed and above all, it's fabric. But even though it's fabric, it's also a bit of a pain as he can't really hold onto it properly so there's not too much use for it. But that aside, when i was finding a way to pose him, i figured the best way to pose him would be to have his backdrop upside down so the flag would be above his head, so i went with that and it looks great for him to pose in front of.
I haven't opened the Seth's yet because i've just been lazy and will just open the basic when i want to do the headswap with my current TNF Seth (I got the second one because i when i do some fixups, i like to have 1 original of the figure).
I took some of my Elias and Triple H pics and messed around with the filters and effects on my phone and honestly, these just make them look even better. Especially the one of Triple H standing in the dark, that might be one of my favourite photos ever.
Thanks for looking.
