I spent the weekend in Holland at a festival do missed the entire Summerslam weekend. Had a few hours to kill at the airport heading back and wanted to watch Takeover at home so decided to watch Summerslam on my phone before boarding the plane. I have to say I think I enjoyed it a lot more than the majority on here reading the comments.
Seth/Ziggler was good, unsure why people expected an Ambrose heel turn so soon. I'm guessing at Hell in a Cell or not long after.
The triple threat was OK, I couldn't really get into it, and it's stupid that Becky is being portrayed as a heel. I've honestly given up on SDL's women's division. Raw's on the other hand... I just can't help but get so invested in Ronda. I've never watched a UFC event in my life but she's just brilliant in a WWE ring. Alexa finally got the beating shes needed and for the first time maybe ever the women's division has huge legitamecy. I loved the squash.
AJ/Joe was match of the card for me though. I thought the story going into this was stupid, I'm really excited to see where it goes now though. The DQ finish didn't bother me, it just elected the feud to the next level. These guys are 10-12 years older since their TNA epics. Of course the match wasn't going to be a fast paced encounter but both guys worked to their strengths perfectly. I also think should these guys get the hell on a cell stipulation (which they should) it has all the potential in the world. AJ might be the best seller in history for me.
Seen a few people say how good Bryan/Miz was, might have to rewatch as I was slightly distracted throughout.
Main event did its job, I guess. I'm one of the few Brock fans left, I thought they worked Strowman in well, but don't tease me another (better) Strowman/Lesnar encounter like that then have Reigns hit a cheap spear for the win after all these years of dominance. Terrible finish. I get they've been building to this for so long, but a weak looking spear finally ends Lesnar's reign? Stupid.
Disappointing end to an above average show. I've managed to avoid all Takeover spoilers so can't wait to get home and enjoy that, no doubt infinitely more than this as usual.

I thought it was a largely good show with some great and some bad. Definitely on the higher end of Pay-Per-Views this year, though, to be fair, that isn't exactly saying much. I didn't have terribly high expectations going in, because, to be honest, I've been very checked out over the last couple of months. But, with that in mind, I thought the show delivered.
I loved Rollins/Ziggler, Styles/Joe, and Bryan/Miz.
The main event was what it was. It felt like the entire crowd let out of a collective sigh of relief when Roman won. Not because it's a positive indicator of what's to come, but because anyone who has suffered through the last three plus years should've been begging for this moment to finally happen so we can just get on with it already. Reigns still possesses all the negative connotations he did going into the match, but at least they can tell a different story now. As expected, though, the match simply didn't matter and neither did the payoff. They waited far too long and beat the horse into oblivion and it was perhaps even more anticlimactic than I expected. They got off easy with the Brooklyn crowd, who was far more receptive to the match than it deserved, quite honestly.

a show with ups and downs, but more downs than ups. Ziggler/Rollins was a good match overall, but took too long to get going, the crowd was dead. I'm not a huge fan of hot potatoing a title, but i didnt want Dean to just turn on Rollins either. I'd rather be a build for a bit before it happens. But I feel like things just move to fast, didnt Ziggler just win the title like a few weeks ago? man they just move SO FAST with crap now. BB/New Day....meh. Crowd goes nuts for New Day because those guys are good at what they do, but it was a stupid finish and really nothing more than a Smackdown match. Owens deserves better. AJ/Joe was definitely MOTN, I loved the pace and build, and the finish was smart. I'm all for these two having a good feud that lasts. Its clear they both know each other SO well and just put on great matches. No complaints at all. The Elias thing was stupid. Completely stupid. I like the guy, I like his character, but man....WE GET IT. They just do the SAME ING THING with him ALL the time. It's getting really boring. Miz/Bryan was ok. I just thought with all the heat behind it it would have just felt better. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't as good as I expected. The finish was creative and clearly adds to the feud, I'm sure these guys will continue this for a bit and I'm not gonna complain about that. Demonfinn vs Olive Garden....I mean, Finn looked badass, and I guess that's what he was supposed to do (squash) but once again with 97 matches on a card we have to get crap like this. At least the crowd was hot for it, and if Mattel makes that look into a figure it will be badass. Nak vs Jeff sucked. I literally felt like both guys were just hitting their signature spots. They weren't on the same page, the spot with Jeff jumping on the outside of the ring (the hardest part of the ring, did you know?) was just , ouch, and then Orton coming out at the end was literally a complete waste of 3 minutes. The Main event was what it was. Makes sense to beat Lesnar with 1 spear doesnt it? yeah sure. Whatever, its over. Now we get 10 years of this ing tac vest wearing doorknob running through everyone we like because YOU WILL LOVE ROMAN and BIG DOG. I'm just glad it's ing over and done with. Braun looked like a complete ing fool of course, despite getting the biggest pop of the night Clearly Vince doesn't give a about the fanbase, doesn't listen to anyone and just doesn't care. He's more interested in trolling the audience, than giving them matches they care about seeing. The company is making truckloads of money every week and selling out arenas, youre gonna get Roman as champ and you're gonna love it....thats it. So yay, the big red belt is on RAW tonight and every week for the forseeable future, at least until Brock wins the UFC title back and comes out on RAW with it, vince will probably put the big red belt back on him that night. Again, overall it was an entertaining show with some good matches, and some good spots. And major props to them for ending it at a reasonable time

I enjoyed it for the most part. There were a few things that didn’t make sense. Such as Becky turning heel. If feel if they were going to make her the heal then do it so she does something underhanded to win the title. But I guess it was her turn to be a heel seeing we’ve already had heel Flair. But there were quite a few botched moves in their match.
Braun squashing Owens was exactly what I expected seeing he’s been doing it on a weekly basis for a couple months now. I hoped for better, but knew what we would be getting.
I felt like Daniel Bryan was off last night and the Miz carried their match.
I loved the Balor was the Demon and squashed Corbin. It was exactly what I was hoping for.
The main event did what it was supposed to do which was get the title off Roman. And if we are being honest I totally thought Braun was going to cash in after especially seeing he had the squash match vs KO, but I am glad that he didn’t because I don’t want Braun as champion unless he’s a heel. Because as a face his reign will suck because there’s no heel that could just come in a straight up beat him face to face. So you need the underdog factor to beat him and that only works if he’s the heel.
Anyway back to last night...Really the only match I totally didn’t like was Nakamura vs Hardy. But I have yet to be impressed with Nakamura’s ring Work since coming up to the main roster. And Hardy has never done it for me although I will say the swanton onto the apron was something different.
In the end was it worth the $9.99 I spent on the Network this month? Yes, it was well worth it.

The show lasting nine hours wouldn’t have been an improvement. Which is exactly why not everyone needs to be on the show. It’s also why not everyone needs to be called up for NXT to an already oversaturated roster. Which is why they also don’t need to sign every big name independent talent to a developmental deal. I hate saying it, but some fat needs to be trimmed. There’s a LONG list of talent I’d like to see released very soon. Otherwise, the rosters are going to become to cluttered. I don’t think they need to let people go, just rotate them so not everyone has to be on every show. If everyone had a mandatory three months off a year on rotation, the active roster would always be at around 75% of the total roster.

How crazy would it have been if Joe actually pulled off the Muscle Buster on Styles to win the Title? Fans would have went crazy lol.

Definitely a much better show than last years SummerSlam imo. Not as good as the 2016 SummerSlam PPV though.
Seeing Demon Balor squash Corbin was great and I also enjoyed Hardy/Nakamura. Rollins/Ziggler was also good and so was Bryan/Miz. I really wanted Bryan to win but hopefully we get Bryan/Miz inside the HIAC along with Styles/Joe.

Styles vs Joe? Cracker.....LOVED it. Miz vs Bryan? was missing something? but entertaining all the same. Women's 3 way. Excellent.....LOVED that crowd wanted Becky so bad her heel turn totally backfired. Announcers must've felt like idiots spouting anti Becky crap with THAT reaction going on in the background. Carmella has improved leaps & bounds too I must say. Demon vs Corbin....like PJ exactly what I was hoping for. Demon squashes Corbin. Crowd LOVED Balor.....pay attention Vince FFS. Rollins vs Ziggler- good stuff....very entertaining. New Day vs Bludgeon Brothers. BB shouldn't need to be disqualified against New Day.... Naka vs Hardy.....meh. Rousy vs Bliss.....what was I was expecting. Bliss entire gimmick is that she's a chicken crap heel. She got found out!!! Strowman vs Owens...…...Dunno what to say about Owens. He needs a change of show like Balor. ME....need more time with my thoughts

While not spectacular, Summerslam did fix a few of WWE's severe long-term problems:
1) The title reign of Brock Lesnar. Never should have put the title on a part-timer for anywhere near this length to begin with. Despite what some fans think of Roman, at least now the title is on a full-time talent, and can be the focal point every week. The amount of damage done to RAW by not having a World title can finally start being fixed.
2) The title reign of Alexa Bliss. Despite how much some fans adore her, the way the creative team have booked her has made the women's division an absolute bore to watch. They have tremendous talents on the RAW women's division: Ember Moon, Sasha Banks, Bayley, Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, Nia Jax, Mickie James. Yet for the past 18 months on RAW alone, the creative team have refused to give anyone else a spotlight, and have happily destroyed the credibility of everyone not named Alexa Bliss. In 18 months, the longest Bliss has been without the title has been 2 months. Unless you're a total package, which Alexa Bliss is not (while having incredible mic skills, I can't think of a single memorable match of hers) that makes such lengthy title reigns an absolute bore to watch. As long as they take Bliss out of the title picture for at least a good 6 months, the RAW women's division will finally be good again, and I can start appreciating Bliss.
3) The prolonged inability to do anything noteworthy with Becky Lynch. Since losing the SmackDown Women's Championship to Alexa Bliss at TLC 2016, WWE creative have not shone a spotlight on Becky Lynch since, despite overwhelming fan support. She's had a few title opportunities every once in a while, but she's always lost and then gone straight to the bottom of the pile. With her recent winning streak, it looked like she was set to win the title at Summerslam. However, then Charlotte got involved and won, making it look like a repeat of what we saw on SmackDown Live, at WrestleMania 33, at Money in the Bank 2017). But then Creative did something fresh, something to ensure that the spotlight was on Becky Lynch. She seemingly turned heel, attacking her best friend. If this ends up with Becky winning the title in the near future, it will have been worth it. They'll have to book Becky carefully now though. Unlike a lot of heel turns, where the new heel insults the audience, claiming that they turned their backs on them, Becky cannot do that. The fans never gave up on Becky, that was evident with them booing Charlotte and overwhelmingly cheering Becky after her heel actions. So they'll have to go a different route, if they indeed want her as a heel. Either way, I'm very interested.
So Summerslam 2018 got a big thumbs up from me. I stopped watching the main roster a month ago, with the first two points being a big part of that. Now that those two major problems have finally been fixed, I think the WWE main roster is worth my time again.

Translation: I'm exactly the kind of sheep WWE wants the audience to be. Or maybe they just enjoyed the show? Except even when a show is clearly terrible there is still comments like that. It makes believe wwe really does hire people to defend them online.

I just finished watching Summer Slam. I want to share my thoughts with fellow wrestling fans.
So first off, this took me several days to watch. That's not a good thing. There was times were watching this event just seemed to tedious and boring. Since it took me several days to watch I may be off as far what happened when during the show.
The Womens matches were God awful. The first one with Lynch/Flair/Carmella was just meh too me. I didnt really pay attention to the match because nothing about it appealed to me.
The Rhonda match was worse. They play up Rhonda as a monster, and I guess she is, so what chance did the other girl have? As soon as I heard Joan Jett, I thought what a waste. It's cool when they use real music for intros but I know that in 10 years, 5 years, 1 year, a few months, when I go back to watch this Joan Jett will be edited out.
For those of you familiar with the television show "The Middle", on ABC, Daniel Bryan reminds me of a male version of Sue Heck. A perennial loser that doesn't know he's a loser. I just dont see the appeal to him, or the Miz for that matter.
I dont get the pancakes deal.
The worst offender of the show is a tie for me. I dont know what I hated more. The fact that the Brock Lesner Match had more time allotted for the pre match video package than the actual match. Or earlier, someone did an inverted superplex off the top rope only for the opponent to kick out. You could tell the crowd loved the move and after it they were not as pumped up during the match.
The best part of the show, IMO, was the Braun Stroman match. He squashed KO like the jobber he is. I loved it.
I also in joy the Elias sketch. It seem like he took a page straight out of the book of Billy Van
