Former Superstar Returns Ahead of World Domination Tour
BOSTON - The profile of the WFWF’s upcoming World Domination Tour continues to rise, as WFWF.com has learned this morning that former WFWF Superstar Lance Rodriguez has signed an agreement to his return to ring after thirteen years of inactivity!
Longtime WFWF fans maybe recall Rodriguez’s initial brief run, debuting back in 2005 under the nickname “Smash” - a moniker earned during his years as a top college prospect that followed him on his way to becoming an early round draft in the major leagues. Unfortunately, a pre-season injury sidelined him indefinitely, ultimately leading him to pursue alternative avenues upon which to showcase his unique athleticism.
Luck, it would seem, was not on Rodriguez’s side, however, and much like his professional career, his tenure with the WFWF was short-lived, leaving him to fall among the ranks of the innumerable talents who have come and gone to little or not avail over the years. His return comes on the heels of the announcement of a tournament to crown a brand-new champion when the world tour culminates at London’s Wembley Stadium. Rodriguez has confirmed in an announcement this morning that he will be an entrant in the tournament, making him the first confirmed name to be etched in the brackets.
”I consider myself very fortunate. This is, clearly, something that, at least for me, has been many, many years in the making. You know, to even have this opportunity, it sort of circumvents the expectation of fanfare or that first big pop - I don’t doubt that many fans are sitting at home wondering, you know, ‘who is this guy?’. And that’s alright - in a lot of ways, this is less a return than it is a debut, and it just so happens that, regardless of what you want to call it, I get to come in with a unique opportunity to really re-forge my name in the history books. That’s really what all this is about for me - redemption, you know?”
While no other names have been publicly confirmed for the upcoming tournament, Rodriguez will no doubt have his hands full as the event has already been promised to serve as a showcase of the WFWF’s best and brightest up and coming stars - a headline that’s sure to throw some high stakes players directly in his path.
