I was thinking about this. What makes a good collection to you? Is it having everything? Or less is more with solid fixups and attention to detail?
What catches your eye and makes a collection solid to you? For me it’s display and how solid your eras are.

I'd say that it all has to do with personal opinion. It's all about your own preferences and likes/dislikes. I feel like if someone is collecting certain things because of how they feel others will view it then they are doing it all wrong.
Now that being said, I think money is a big factor here. Those of us with less money have to be more picky about what we buy whereas those with endless cash can pretty much buy whatever they want and not worry about the consequences.
I think I'm right in the middle. I have enough money to buy wrestling figures and it not effect my livelihood but I am also very picky and choosy because these damn things ARE NOT CHEAP and I cannot justify paying $20 for a piece of plastic that looks exactly like another piece of plastic that I already have but with a new head.
I used to try and buy everything. Now I'm more grown-up and responsible and I pretty much just buy the figures of guys I like in attires that really stand out to me.
I love my collection and I think it's perfect..... but I do look at it sometimes and feel bad for how much money I've spent on it. But that feeling generally passes pretty quickly and I'm back to adding things to my cart on Amazon.

Personally speaking, I need to have as many guys as I can get to build "era" theme shelves to consider my collection truly great. I really enjoy looking up and down my shelves as it shows a visual history of past, present, and future wrestlers. If the wrestlers aren't displayed in their correct era... I don't think I would enjoy my figures. I also can't just buy figures of a few guys... like how can I have Hogan without Andre or Piper or Macho Man? How can I have a HHH without DX and The Rock and Stone Cold? How can I have a Punk without Cena and Jericho and Rock...

Collections displayed by era and single character collections are best in my opinion, also complete collections are always great to see, such as the Hasbro and Galoobs

Some good answers here. My only thing is order. Gavin a clear order to what you collect be it era, all of one guy or faction together or any other clear and easy to understand order.

Obviously, a collection worth its salt should have some eye-catching details, some reason it's been collected at all. Perhaps your personal favorites stand at the front and center of your display. With these figures as with anything, it's so subjective. I certainly haven't got everybody from any era, I just collect the guys and gals I like. I definitely feel like a collection's been taken to the next level when there are some well-made customs or unique fixups in the lot, or you've got a one-of-a-kind display setup. That helps to make it your own, and differentiate it from other collections out there.

The figures I like standing on my shelves. And the memories that the pre-1990 wrestlers trigger of watching with my father when I look at them.

Everyone has a good collection because they have what they want. A MOC collection is only better than a loose collection depending on who you ask.

The way I see it is just enjoy what you buy, but another thing is imo make it worth collecting in the 1st place because as a moc collector packaging takes up loads off room so I prefer only getting the wrestlers I’m a fan off or getting the figure signed & another thing is the value, if figures didn’t have a good sell on value I wouldn’t collect them. Am I going to sell them? No , but you never know what life’s gonna be like in 10-15 years so it’s always good to have something to fall back on for profit aswell.

For me, a good collection is a collection that makes its owner happy. For me, it's having at least one Elite of everyone made thus far. I also have multiples of my favorite wrestlers in different attires. I especially enjoy my Undertaker and Kane collections as it shows an evolution of their gimmicks.
As far as what I like to see in someone else's collection? It's not so much what they have, but how they display it. I like seeing the passion coming through. Like the Roman collection recently posted. Roman isn't my cup of tea. But, the fact that someone tracked down every figure and proudly displays them? That's awesome to me.

For me a good collection is 1.having figs from all eras, ljns, hasbros, jakks, mattel 2.having at least a figure of every gimmicks or superstars
So since 1985 ,im buying every different superstars and gimmicks. Example typhoon and tugboat is the same guy but different gimmick, its a buy Cena with different color attire , is not a buy, except if i find at a really good price
money is not a problem with me, because im collecting also star wars, tmnt, batman, gijoe etc... but its cool to find good prices on ebay. Now in canada the distribution is better, but generally i have to buy everything double price on ebay. Amazon canada is a mess, ringside is a good store, but the problem is 1 buy of 2, i have to pay customs fees, i dont know why only with ringside. I,m getting by mail , 1 item by day, and its only with ringside that i have to pay custom fees, even if im buying ony 2 figs at each times.
i understand some new collector, cant buy everything or are not interested by old superstars, but for me getting a pat patterson fig, that was never release ever, is like christmas for me, this is the reason why i was so mad at mattel, for not releasing the gobbledy gooker...

If I’m judging your collection, I’m looking for Golden Era and Attitude Era. I’ll never tell you your display is bad but if it has a healthy display of characters from 85-99, you are going to get a “randyrock likes this” and a strong, positive comment. Yes you will.
