If this is true, it makes his death even sadder, and adds even more tragedy in his loss for the King. On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, F4WOnline.com’s Dave Meltzer commented on Brian Christopher hanging himself while in jail. Meltzer brought up why Christopher’s father Jerry Lawler didn’t bail him out of jail (bail was reportedly set at $40,000) following Christopher’s most recent DUI arrest: “Jerry has been doing stuff to get him out of things and just felt that he needed to learn and wasn’t going to get him out this time. I can just imagine — think about that. Jerry’s good with grief. He’s a unique person in things like that. But still, can you imagine when you have a kid? And he did what he thought was the right thing. He’s 46-years-old he should have grown up a long time ago. You can’t keep bailing him out of his trouble. But now it’s so sad. Brian couldn’t handle it in prison so he hung himself today.” Jerry shouldnt feel guilty at all. its not his responsibility to take care of a 46yo man whether its his kid or not. My parents had a rule for all theri kids, every you ever get arrested you're doing at least 1 night (depending on what you're locked up for). Just for the record you mentioned prison, Brian was likely in County Jail not prison.

I agree, he shouldn't feel one ounce of guilt, but that doesn't mean that doubts haven't crept in his head, where he's questioning if he did the right thing or not. I just hope that is not the case for him.

Or maybe like us they were waiting for solid confirmation. Well I'm sorry for paying my respects to a guy who's lost his life. I thought considering Memphis Wrestling had informed us, that was all the proof we needed. The majority of the day the reports of his death were conflicting with a few saying he died and others only saying he was rushed to the hospital and was alive. Which is probably why WWE didn’t immediately post something. They were most likely waiting for King to confirm what happened.

It would be terrible if they announced a death and it turned out to be completely false. Again very sad news man.

Wow, was just watching his random 2004 return last week, and finally brought his jakks figure after searching for it for ages last week too. Awful news

This is really too bad. Sounds like he had some major problems he just couldn't overcome. Sad ending for sure.
He was very entertaining and I will always remember Too Cool as a fun tag team.
RIP Grand Master Sexay.

This was incredibly sad when I read about it yesterday. Brian was never able to conquer his demons, unfortunately. He could've been a much bigger star when he was in his prime, but it always seemed like he was getting in trouble with booze. His run with Too Cool was always one of my favorites. I remember how many times they tried to repackage him and Scotty and they could just never get over until they became Too Cool and were just able to go out there and act like themselves and goof around. Their ability to get Rikishi over as a face instead of just the stereotypical big monster heel was always incredible to me, too.
I can't imagine what Lawler is going through today. He always seemed to have an on and off again relationship with Brian, but I'm really not sure how much of that was played up on TV for the sake of the storyline. He's gotta be absolutely devastated.
RIP, Grandmaster.

Terrible news. Too Cool were hugely entertaining whenever they were in the ring. Hope he's found peace somewhere.

Was really shocked when I found out about this in work yesterday, because I was literally talking to a colleague about wrestling and we were discussing Too Cool. About 5 minutes after that another coworker who's also a wrestling fan told me the news. Heartbreaking. Feel especially bad for Jerry Lawler right now.
Man what a shame, such a tragic end to his life. I always loved Too Cool and was hoping it wouldn't be the last time we'd see them make an appearance in WWE. And we never got that Mattel Grandmaster figure either, I just bought Scotty the other day.
Grandmaster was on the card at the very first wrestling show I ever attended. WWA in Glasgow on December 9, 2001 when I was 9 years old. A night I'll never forget.
Rest In Peace Brian, thanks for the memories.

Too cool was over as hell in the attitude era. One of my favourite memories was when they stopped the 2000 rumble to do their dance skit. Very entertaining stuff. Can't imagine what Jerry Lawler and his family are going through. RIP

Turn to about 1:05, Brian Lawler says “Me being a pro wrestler, I think if you make it to 45 you’re doing pretty good.”
He just died at 46. Holy crap.

Fox13memphis.com obtained the first public comments from Jerry Lawler regarding the death of his son Brian Christopher. As previously noted, Christopher was found hanging in a jail cell and was rushed to a local hospital. Christopher was kept on life support until the family members including Lawler could say goodbye.
Regarding Christopher's final moments, Lawler said it wasn't easy but was “glad to hold his son’s hand when his heart stopped beating around 3:30 p.m.” Lawler said that he apperciated the support from friends and fans and that thousands of people have reached out to the family.
Regarding the police investigation. Lawler stated that “there may be more to this than meets the eye” but could not comment further.
Man, must have been terrible for Jerry to watch his son die, but at least he did have the comfort of being able to be there with him in his final moments.

I feel for Jerry. I know their relationship was rocky at times, but look at all of Jerry's health problems. The dude nearly died on live TV a few years ago. And yet, he survived and now has to bury his son. Burying your child is something no one should have to do, but looking at guys like Flair and Lawler who should have died a million times over and to still outlive their kid, I really feel for Jerry in this moment.

I feel horrible for Jerry Lawler. I think he did the right thing by not bailing Brian Christopher out this time. I believe Jerry wanted Brian to hit rock bottom so that he could do nothing but get back on his feet. It's sad that Brian decided to take his own life. At least Lawler got to hold his son's hand before he passed.
Also, I get New Jack has heat with them because of his "treatment" in USWA. I don't really know what happened other than what New Jack said. However, it's super f***ed up for New Jack to publicly write the stuff he wrote about Christopher and Lawler. Though I believe New Jack has every right to feel how he feels about them, this was not the time or place to figuratively kick Lawler while he's down.
R.I.P. Brian Christopher. The wrestling heavens gained three wrestlers for their roster, including Nikolai Volkoff and Brickhouse Brown.
