I distinctly remember finding them in the summer of 1990. My grandma took me to Walmart and they had a large section of them in the action figure isle. She told me I could get 2 figures and Hogan was the obvious choice. It took me about 30 minutes to make a decision on the opponent, and I settled on Ted DiBiase because he had a title belt. I still remember sitting in the back seat of my grandma's car playing with those while she went and ran her errands for the rest of the day.

Anyone else have memories of seeing tons of just a few Series 1 figures when they hit retail?
I always thought it was crazy the sheer quantity of Rude, Jake and Brutus at TRU. None of the other 9 could be found. But, I swear it was an entire endcap maybe 12 or more pegs full of those 3. Did that store just get boxes of the same few guys? I can't imagine they recieved equal amounts of everyone and got that much stock, and noboby wanted those specific guys.

UK memories here:
We had Sky from October 1990 and we used to get a magazine called Sattelite Times (long before EPG was around) for TV listings.
In this mag, sometime between then and Jan or Feb 1991 they started to have text only adverts for WWF Hasbro Figures as I remember the names listed - most notably Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase.
I got my first Hasbros from Toys R Us on a Friday and Woolworths the next day on the Saturday I think. The weather at the time was certainly better and I would place that time at around April/May 1991.
I got Ax (cause I knew from the WWF mag that Smash was in a 2-pack with Crush) and Macho Man. My friend got Smash and Jake the Snake.

I can't remember quantities, but everyone was available at the big toy stores for a while in my area. Andre, Akeem, and Dusty all went away quickly though. I always found it ironic that they had the same action. As a kid I thought it had to do with that. To me, I'd always been into wrestling so I knew everyone, so having a figure for someone not currently with the company would have seemed normal. I remember Jake, Ax, Smash, Piper, Duggan, and a couple other early figures warm pegs at grocery stores and pharmacies for what seemed like years though. I don't think those retailers every got anything newer, and they were always more expensive than anywhere else!

Nice, I remember a CVS near me had a giant bin full of mostly Series 2 guys I remember for a while, including Dusty. Never had a clue he was scarce until years later and learning the history on the internet. Andre was super hard for me to get, he was the last one from Series 1 I got, and I think that was after I already had most of Series 2.

I recall seeing Brutus the most often and seeing Ted and Macho several times. I remember Hulk Hogan and Andre being impossible to find for me. I never saw them. Of course, I was very young and it wasn't like today where I could drive all over town looking. I remember the times when I would take forever to decide who to get, always disappointed to not find Hogan. I'll never forget my mom saying "Just get Akeem so we can go home already." She was right, Akeem was awesome.
