I thought Renee was absolutely brutal last night. As soon as the novelty of this "first woman to commentate for Raw" thing wears off I'm sure people will take the rose tinted glasses off and see this for themselves. She's more like a cheerleader than a commentator, and all the aah'ing and ooh'ing every time something happens isn't exactly becoming of a commentator.

she's not calling spots, she's not telling stories, I'm not sure what kind of colour commentary she's providing. When Dean's on the screen she goes mute, I don't get it.

Is she incapable of being a partial commentator when he's on or something? Is she strumming herself? What's the deal!

Train-wreck last night, reinforces my belief that 2-person booths of any gender are what should be in place. There is no value in having 3, unless the third person is coming in with critical insight the others miss which Renee couldn’t dream of providing, she’s a front-person who is good at reading bits of paper in front of her.

The problem with this whole thing is, was she promoted because she deserves it? or because WWE wants a female commentator to suit the narrative and shes the lucky winner. WWE has had great personalities before (Sunny) that could and HAVE done great commentary and they have had great female wrestlers before that they have chosen to ignore. (Sherri Martel, Alundra Blaze, Luna etc.) Right now they want us to believe these girls have done something different to deserve the position they have, when in reality they have had great talent a number of times, the difference is right now they are choosing to highlight it and come hell or high water, theyll position the people they have to reflect the narritive.
And dont confuse what im saying to be that the girls today dont have talent, they do. But there have been many instances of WWE having talent, they dont push you because you have talent, they push you because they feel like it whether you deserve it or not.
Renee OBVIOUSLY isnt ready to do commentary...but she wasnt chosen because she was good at it, she was chosen because Vince said, "We need a female commentator to look good in the media" and then one of his stooges said, BUT WHO VINCE!? and he spun his finger in a circle and landed on Renee Youngs name

WWE is just trying to appeal to the media. I don't blame them one bit, but forcing the women to the forefront like they are is nauseating.

Roman Reigns is the least adequate member of his own faction and he's main evented 4 Manias in a row... The world has changed and now women are actually getting a shot. Who cares why or how as long as they're able to break the barrier? Sure it makes WWE look good. Giving women an opportunity is long overdue. Renee is already an excellent panelist/interviewer who could do that job for non fiction companies, and she was the best available in-house option by a mile. She's also comfortably better than Coach. So whether you think she deserves it or not, she's getting the opportunity and that's meaningful to all of the women they'll hire from here on out. She's already upgraded the table as far as I'm concerned.

Renee does a better job on the Mae Young Classic calling matches with Beth and Cole than she does on Raw.
And I knew that she would be horrible on Raw from the get-go. I even said that on here, but everyone was like, "noooo, she is awesome, this is great!" Well is it that great now?? Not really.
Last night was proof of how she will just get worse each week. She is just there right now for the Evolution PPV and will probably be there a few months after that. Come Royal Rumble time?? It will be back to 3 men on the announce team.

All future Royal Rumbles will most likely have a womens' version and if Evolution gets the buy-rates/exposure they are looking for, that will be a staple in the PPV calendar year. I hope Renee can improve on her own. She's a good interviewer, but a horrible play-by-play colour commentator at the moment. I just laugh though when I see people think she got to that table purely on her skills.

Renee Young is awful, but so is most of the commentary these days. Back in the day JR would stay focused on the match and sell you on the story being told, ratcheting up the excitement during bigger spots. These days they are all making pop culture references (I’ll never forget Mauro Ranallo making a Gigi Hadid joke and making me throw my iPhone across the room out of anger for how stupid it was) and Renee sounds like your excitable aunt who has never seen wrestling before. “WOOOOOW!” “DID YOU SEE THAT?” “OH MY GOSH!”
The MYC is nearly unwatchable this year because of her.

My favorite Renee Young commentary lines from this weeks RAW were ...”OOOW” and “ WOW!”
Atleast if they ever make her one of those real talkin action figures, they won’t need to make her say much. All they need to do to sell it is put a little disclaimer on the bottom that says “it’s a woman, that’s why you should buy it”
