So it's been 3 months since TRU went under, and I'm really missing it right about now. Target/Walmart just doesn't have the size nor quality of the figure aisle at TRU. I guess you truly don't know what you got til it's gone.

Someone told me my local TRU is going to be used to sell Halloween costumes.

I don’t miss it for any particular toy category or line, I just miss going in there and browsing everything with my kids. We used to spend 45 minutes - 1 hour in there every stop.

I don't even care about TRU closing down for myself. If I ever have a child, I won't be able to take him/her to one, and that sucks.

the toys r us that was closest to me o went to from when i was a small child so well over 30 years.
I miss having an actual toy store to go to. sure you can order pretty much everything online huy nothing will ever beat the experience of shopping at a toy store.

Yeah, really miss it, didn't go often even with having kids, because of the location of the closest ones being in a terrible traffic area.
But really miss being able to walk around and enjoy the size and amount of stuff they had. Miss BRU too, so many memories from when our kids were born.
If we ever take that vacation to Canada we will need to find a TRU and visit.

All of that said.. it is NOT fair to blame Ringside. Ringside sells the product at a fair (-ish) price, and is able to get it to the consumer quicker. If TRU wanted that market share, they should have figured a way to keep up with that. Its not as though Ringside attacked TRU any more than is expected in a retail business. Ringside found a model that works, and more power to them for it. Yes, more people buy things online.. But TRU had a website. Raise your hand if you found more in stock, or that it was easier to search for wrestling figures on TRU's site over Ringside's or any other wrestling figure retailer? Didn't think so. TRU's demise lies solely in it's inability to adapt with the times, and the shady buyout by vultures.

Sure it was a big factor but the reason they closed was the purposeful mismanagement. All the executives who drove it into the ground walked away with millions while the company died and thousands of people lost their jobs.

The TRU closest to me didn’t take pride in their store so it came off as a bit of a dump and the employees didn’t seem to care, either. The wrestling section was a wasteland and often times the figures were swapped and accessories were stolen. The dolls took over what used to be a healthy elite section, Marvel Universe figures were rarely stocked, and Star Wars was always overstocked on one particular figure. I don’t run retail but those were popular sections that were no longer appealing.
I miss it for nostalgic reasons but they didn’t do themselves any favors.

Yeah, I miss it. Going out on hunts doesn't feel complete without stopping in at TRU anymore.

I enjoy "the hunt" but if I had to choose over ordering exactly what I want from the comfort of my home and receiving it within 2-days or driving over half an hour (with no traffic) to the closest TRU and hope they have something new or something I want, I'd choose Amazon 10 out of 10 times. I completely understand the whole nostalgia factor as I've been going to TRU for 25+ years, but just because its what we know or what we are used to doesn't make it better.
