In the last two Styles/Joe matches, somebody was hard wayed. In this match, Randy & Jeff pulled off some highlights for the year and they proved why you don't with veterans. They may rest on their laurels some of the time, but tonight Randy got off those laurels and showed us why (in kayfabe) the boys in the back like it when he's lazy or complacent. I love Wild and wooly, and that was ons of those moments that means even more in the current landscape. I’ve heard hundreds of wrestlers on podcasts and not one has referred to Orton as “lazy or complacent”, most say he’s that good he makes things look effortless. Orton being lazy is purely the fans opinion. IN KAYFABE. The other guys on the locker room don't want him motivated to win matches in KAYFABE. Jesus... In reality his style has always been preservation oriented due to his nagging shoulder injuties, but there's no denying he has been unmotivated for prolonged periods.

Repeated chair shots to the head without protection are one thing, but I don't see why guys can't get their hands up for the spot every once in a while. Even if they have their hands up it doesn’t really add anything to the match... I could not disagree more so. it has everything to do with wrestling psychology. for example, heel wrestler is beating down face #1 unfairly after ref bump, face #2 runs down and takes chair from heel, ref wakes up and tries to get face #2 out who throws chair to face #1, who smacks the heel with the chair. if the face #1 just hits a gut and back shot with the chair for the pin, the drama has been sucked out. it was all about the heel being temporarily knocked out by not seeing the chair shot coming which gives the spot it’s momentum - not the chair use itself. it fascinates me that they didn’t capitalize on banning chair shots as any traditional wrestling company would. have Vince ban them, but that any time a chair is used to the head it carries a massive fine. so then just use it very rarely, and actually have wrestlers suspended kayfabe a few weeks for it, etc. treat it like a big deal. and no reason they can’t use their hand to protect.

Think about Jeff and Randy in the back rehearsing that spot before the match.
Orton: "Hey Jeff, i want to stick this screwdriver in your ear lobe and twist it around for shock effect" Hardy: "Yeah that will be a cool spot" Orton: "Let's see how much time I can turn it" [turns it over and over] Hardy: "aaaoooowwwww! okay 4 times really hurts, let's stick to three turns" Orton: "Man you got stretchy skin!"

I agree with this. On a side note another thing that takes away the momentum is them getting all quiet and whispering when something "crazy" happens. It's literally cringeworthy how after Orton pinned Hardy his music didn't immediately play and they made it into this huge deal where it took over a minute for them to announce him as the winner and have his music play. He should have been up the ramp leaving to his music looking back on Hardy being stretchered out with replays going on. I hate how they overplay things like that and Cole on commentary just makes it worse lol

I can turn my ear lobe six times before it doesn't want to turn anymore but it never really hurts. It's just tough to turn.

I think it's just a lump of flesh. If you don't believe me pinch you earlobe, then pinch your arm with the same amount of pressure. One hurts. It's not the earlobe. That's why I know the spot was completely staged and Jeff wasn't in pain. Still doesn't explain why it made me sick to my stomach but it did. It looks far more grisly than it actually was.

Nah you can definitely cause pain to an ear lobe. When I first gauged them it was discomforting.

You're all making it out like he stuck the screwdriver through his ear and created a hole. Jeff wears those ing stupid plug things in his ears. For that, he deserves to have someone twisting a screwdriver in them if you ask me. Pillock. His body, his choices. Simple as that. Doesn't mean he "deserves" to have someone inflicting pain. I'm taking the Michael, matey.
