Well,
The big UFC #78 event is tonight and I'm really looking forward to it. There are some great fights on this card and the one I'm looking forward to the most would have to be Rashad Evans vs. Michael "The Count" Bisping.
That one should be a war from start to finish. I've literally got my money riding on Bisping. I made a simple $5 bet with one of my buddies in that fight and I believe I will be $5 richer when all is said and done. ;D
My other picks go as this:
Karo Parisyan over Ryo Chonan Houston Alexander over Thiago Silva Ed "Shortfuse" Herman over David Terrell Spencer "The King" Fisher over Frankie Edgar Joe Lauzon over Jason Reinhardt Chris "Lights-Out" Lytle over Thiago Alves Luke Caudillo over Marcus Aureilo Tamden McCrory over Akihiro Gono

So that means Ed Herman isn't going to be on the main card, right? I mean they are for sure having Bisping, Alexander, Parisyan, and spencer fisher...so i think ONCE AGAIN Ed Herman, one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC isn't on the card. =/
anyways I basically chose all the same ones as you...

Despite all the bad press this got over lacking star power in the main event I actually believe this is one of the strongest UFC cards top to bottom in a long time for close fights.
-Bisping over Rashad. First off I'm British so got to pull for Rashad. But I do believe that Bisping will have learnt a lot from his "WIN" over Hamil and come in with a better gameplan. Plus I believe that Rashad has an over inflated impression of his striking skills, I think standing up he is terrible & Bisping will take him apart easilly. If Rashad turns it into a grappling match he should win but I think he'll be cocky and try to stand with The Count and he's getting sparked. -Karo Parisyan over Ryo Chonan. My pick for Fight of the Night to be honest, this is going to be a close war with Karo getting points but no doubt still getting no closer to a title shot. -Thiago Silva over Houston Alexander, I don't want to go against Houston who has looked great but I think the undefeated Silva can bang with Houston but will take it down where he's miles ahead. -Joe Doerksen to beat Ed "Shortfuse" Herman not sure why he was put against David Terrell in above post?? Herman has shown a serious weakness against good submission guys and that's where Doerksen steps in & takes it. Spencer "The King" Fisher over Frankie Edgar, another Fight of the Night contender. I think Edgar is better technically but I can just see Fisher finding the way to win here. Joe Lauzon over Jason Reinhardt, jason is 18.0 but hasn't fought anyone and never on the big stage so I can see him getting the Octagon jitters and falling to Lauzion by tap in the 1st. Joe was my pick to win tUF and expecting big things from here. Thiago Alves over Chris "Lights-Out" Lytle, just can't see Alves being troubled at all here. Marcus Aureilo over Luke Caudillo, one guy has tapped out Gomi, the other has little in the way of a ground game. I'm going with Marcus here. Akihiro Gono over Tamden McCrory, don't know much about McCrory but with Gono ac seasoned Pride vet making his UFC debut at a weight that I think suits him better i'd be going with Gono against most people.

^ Sorry about getting the names confused up there. I originally put David Terrell instead of Joe Doerksen because that's what it was listed as on another site and I just took the fights from them. I guess they were wrong with their information there. sports.yahoo.com/mma/news?slug=ys-103007mmaweekly&prov=yhoo&type=lgnsI'm still going with "Shortfuse" though. He's a tough fighter and will put Doerksen away I believe.

It is so sad that Karo Parisyan has never headlined a PPV. His last few fights have easily been fight of the night and I don't think tonight will be any different. Can't wait for him to get a title shot after GSP.
It is hard to call the Thiago Silva vs Alexander fight. Alexander might be a bit over-aggressive when going in there and he is going against a guy who is also capable of knocking guys out. I'm still going to say Alexander takes it though.
Bisping can't lose in my eyes. Evans is one of my favorites but when he talks about the fight with Tito he has such a vivid imagination as to how the fight went, it makes me lose respect for the guy. Plus Bisping is just overall better on the feet and whatever the other fighters strength is Evans usually tries to prove he is just as good as they are. Whether it be striking, wrestling, etc. Evans inflated ego thinks he can do just about anything.

Wow Houston got destroyed... Yeah, kind of surprising, even though Thiago Silva is damn good. I don't understand how one of the judges scored the main event for Bisping - he didn't do crap.

Well, pretty disappointing PPV overall. The fights tonight weren't that good or impressive at all in my opinion. They were all pretty boring, to tell the truth. The main event was a letdown because the fight itself was rather boring with not much action.
Just like my older brother said, they should've made the Rashad/Bisping fight a draw and kept them both undefeated, rather than give Rashad the win. I thought the fight was close myself, but leaning towards Rashad in the end, due to the takedowns. Other than the takedowns, Rashad didn't do much either.
Houston got dummied in his fight, so his hype is all out the window now.
Oh well, I just hope the next UFC will be better than this one because this one was a letdown.

I'll bet Dana didnt even expect this to be a PPV to remember. They are pulling out everything for next month. 3 main event quality matches that all would main event any show. I too didnt expect much from this show & it wasnt really anything special. Taking nothing away from Silva, but Houston REALLY needs to work on his ground game. How one of those judges gave Bisping the fight is beyond me. As soon as I figured out it was a SD, I was just thinking, "Is this crap going to happen again?" Evans clearly won rounds 1 & 3, while 2 was a little more of a toss up. If you dont consider the takedown by Bisping right after the bell in 2, I'd give the round to Evans.

I think Bisping deserves everyones respect, he out struck Rashad and cancelled out nearly everyone of his takedowns, Bisping in my opinion won the fight, yes I am English, no this isnt to do with that, I honestly believe it was Bispings fight, not taking anything away from Rashad but I think that this wasnt his best fight.

You also said that you thought Bisping beat Hamill. Evans clearly won this fight. None of Bisping's strikes landed, and Evans took him down at will.

Oh please. He "deserves respect" for "hanging with" Rashad Evans? You act like Rashad Evans is ACTUALLY a top-5 light heavyweight. He's not. Michael Bisping did absolutely nothing in that fight, much like he did absolutely nothing against Matt Hamill - the biggest decision screwjob I've seen.

I thought Bisping/Evans should have been a draw.
Evans got the takedowns but did nothing once he got Bisping down and Bisping managed to get back to his feet every time he was taken down. When they were standing Bisping got the better of the stand up.
Evans won round 1 Bisping won round 2 Round 3 was extremely close, 10-10 in my eyes but i can understand it going to either Evans or Bisping.
Not a great event though, Only enjoyed the main event and the Herman fight.

I forgot all about this PPV. Wow, how did Rashad beat Bisping? Grr. Because Rashad is better than Bisping. Although, he's not that good either, so I guess it was kind of a toss-up. I actually expected Rashad to make it much more convincing than he did.

For some reason, I was the only one out of my friends that thought Rashad was going to win. I called even the ending of the fight, with it being a split decision. In my eyes...Tito and Rashad tied there fight, and Hamill beat Bisping (I don't care what the actually decision was). In no disrespect to Hamill, I think he's a really great fighter and give him a few more fights and he'll be right up there, but who's better...Hamill or Tito? Hence why I couldn't see Rashad loosing.
On a side note, anyone do the UFC Fantasy? I didn't do that bad, I placed 148th out of like 19 thousand....not bad not bad.

My view on scoring MMA fights is that taking somedown down but not doing anything ie scoring punches whilst there or attempting submissions shouldn't count that highly. For me Bisping managed to get back up from the takedowns, was looking for dsubmissions off his back & striking. I thought Rashad took the first but then bisping came back for the last two. However bisping has himself to blame for the loss, he should have been more aggressive. In the second round Evans was gassed & Bisping hurt him with a low kick, should have thrown so many more during that round to weaken Rashad up for a prolonged attack in the third. he didn't & so lost.
Neither man looked like a world beater tonight, bisping was too hesitant & Rashad's jerky style looked poor. Any top ranked fighter will destroy them right now, perhaps both should look to the Middleweight division where their size & strength will make a difference
-Edgar over Fisherwas boring but he did the job so fair play to him. -Herman impressed me, I thought he had no chance against Doerksen. -I called Houston losing but Damn! Silva looked good, get him in there with Soko for an exciting fight at New Years rather than the snorefest that always comes with Machida.
A card worth watching but didn't live up to what it could have been with the fighters involved & the lack of star power really made it feel like a UFN show.

Rashad vs Bisping was very close. I cant stand bisping. He didnt win the fight against Hamill and didnt do much against Rashad. Although both men looks a bit flabby for the fight.
