Random question...
I've ordered a few figs from ringside which takes me to around 100.
I'm almost exclusively a collector of late 80s or early 90s.
My question tho is it wrong I DONT have a single Hulk Hogan figure?
Was never a huge fan and none of his stand out to me. I've 5 or 6 Randy Savage figures and 2,3 & 4 of a few others.
Can my collection be considered legit without the man who was the face of the business in the era?

I think you need the DM even if it’s jus for the collection. I’m not a hogan guy either.

Can my collection be considered legit without the man who was the face of the business in the era? Short answer - no. It depends though... are you just collecting figures of the guys you like - or do you want a collection of figures that best defines the era? Because if it's the latter, then you need Hogan without question... it would be like having an Attitude Era collection without Stone Cold.

I have the DM just for the sake of having a mattel Hogan. I actually had all 4 that were released but sold them all except the DM.

A Golden era wrestling figure collection without Hogan is not a Golden era wrestling figure collection.
Get him!!

It’s YOUR collection so it has to have what YOU want in it. If you didn’t care for the guy why put him on your shelves?

The best Hogan is made by using the DM body with the HOF head.

Hogan IS the WWF Still it is their collection so shouldn’t it just be figures they like? Why would I buy a figure of someone who meant nothing to me regardless of the era I am collecting? If they didn’t make an impact on me when watching them then why would I want them represented on my shelves? Maybe it’s just me but the stuff I collect are for the memories they bring back when looking at them on my shelves/walls.

I say collect who you like. It's not like the Figure Police are going to come to your house and judge your collection. But I know if I'm questioning buying a figure that much, I usually pass, unless I find it for like $5 or something. That is the story of the Cena DM I have, lol.

Buy what you want obviously,..
I bought steamboat, Tito Santana, Dean malenko, etc and I hated them but I remember them as a part of something I loved. I’m not a warrior or undertaker guy but I bought one of each. I could list quite a number of wrestlers I didn’t like that I have a figure of.

IMO DM Hogan and RSC exclusive American Made Hogan are essential for that collection. If I just started, those would be the 1st two figs to buy.

Get what you want.
I have a a golden era collection myself. I would of never bought a tugboat, Tito or prob even HTM if I didn’t.
Even though they may not have been my favorites growing up or as colorful as Savage & Warrior. They look really good with the others & Honky Tonk Man is such an awesome figure (retrofest) & Tito is a perfect portrayal.
I collect my favorites but it’s also fun to display an era you are most nostalgia about.
DM Hogan is the best Hogan they’ve made so far. I took off the shirt & wrapped a winged eagle belt around his waist.

If your collection consists of only wrestlers that you liked and you didn’t like Hogan then you don’t need him. If you made compromises and have figures of other wrestlers you weren’t a fan of then the Hulkster is a must have for any Golden Age collection.

You cannot have a 'legitimate' 80s or 90s collection without Hulk Hogan. You cannot have a legit wrestling figure collection without Hulk Hogan. End of story.

If that's the case, then I am quite proud of my illegitimate wrestling figure collection. Why anyone would purchase a representation of a character they're not a fan of in some way or fashion in the name of internet legitimacy is a concept well beyond me and my spending habits.

Well, it is your collection, so you can curate it however you want imo. As a kid I didn't like Hulk Hogan either, my family had a SNME tape where Earthquake squashed him and "seriously injured" the Hulkster, and I loved it, I didn't watch again until nWo in '96, then I learned to like the Hulkster -er, Hollywood.
You might want to wait until Wrestlemania Axxess next year to see if they make an Ultimate version of Hogan, I always thought his elite body looked kind of funky with the ab cut and giant arms, if they do another it might have the cupped ear hand and YOU finger pointing hand.
