its a lot to digest, not really a fan of him backing his arguments with a clip from "Wrestling with Shadows" that came out in 1998, and that poorly edited, altered video of that interview Vince did where he got firey with the interviewer, Prichard talked about that and said it was a horrendous experience, heavily edited to fix a narrative and not an accurate portrayal at all.
however the point of the segment is well understood and honestly didnt know Oliver was such a big wrestling fan, i hope he shows up at Mania to be honest, that would be amazing

A rep for WWE sent the following statement to Pro Wrestling Sheet: John Oliver Ignores Facts John Oliver is clearly a clever and humorous entertainer, however the subject matter covered in his WWE segment is no laughing matter. Prior to airing, WWE responded to his producers refuting every point in his one-sided presentation. John Oliver simply ignored the facts. The health and wellness of our performers is the single most important aspect of our business, and we have a comprehensive, longstanding Talent Wellness program. We invite John Oliver to attend WrestleMania this Sunday to learn more about our company. And the company loves those 2 dummies from Saturday Night Live who can do no wrong...

I mean they also have to pay for their own rental cars, flights, hotels, and some guys will have to pay for all that just to not be used on the show Its also tax deductible for business expenses too. Just sayin

John Oliver and John Stewart vs Usos. Book it now. To your first point, I find it hard to take anything Prichard says. I view his show as entertainment and not necessarily a great source of truthful info. More often than not through the years I assume he was working. Always thinking of what daddy Vince wants everyone to believe. I don't have much of an issue with them using Wrestling with Shadows. Sure, Bret and Vince may have buried the hatchet since, but Bret really did feel that way in that moment. He may have had an additional axe to grind, but it is on record. To be honest though, Oliver did seem like he was cherry picking.

Glad he stepped up about the issue when he didn't have to.

Funny these things are starting to crop up with the new XFL going on in the background.

To be honest though, Oliver anyways, this segment is spot on. too many wrestlers lost to conditions of the past. and the independent contractor thing has been insane for a long time. surprised he didn’t bring up the entire concussion lawsuit. The content regarding legalities and old wrestlers seemed pretty meticulously laid out. Mention of the frivolous concussion lawsuit would’ve either hurt the credibility of the piece or defended WWE, and neither of those would’ve suited what the episode was doing.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver is one of my favorite shows. I saw this when it aired on Sunday. It’s an interesting subject.

Gotta try to spin this into something positive. It's actually a smart move by WWE if true. Taking the high road.

Taking the high road. I don't know. I think this might have been one of those rare situations where ignoring it and hoping it goes away might be the best response.

They/Vince view it as an opportunity more than anything I bet.

I’d say though my only gripe with the segment was when he used that old clip of Bret he then brought up Owen’s death as something Bret was bitter about the business for but to my knowledge Bret doesn’t blame WWE for Owen’s death.
