I like how it says you cant talk about it and people still talk about the ones they have. It only says we cant discuss stolen protos It’s hard to prove a prototype isn’t stolen

I never got the appeal of these! You got a prototype of something that a thousand mouth beathers got a hold of! Unless something drastic changed between prototype and retail. Like Rocket Firing Boba.

I purchased all of my prototypes from Hasbro, Playmatess, Jakks, Just Toys, Toybiz and Mattel design team employees who were allowed to keep their original works by their respective companies. Nice & legal. I could see someone pointing to one of Bill's protos, sliding $20 across the table, he doesn't break eye contact, and slowly takes the proto and puts it under the table and the buyer quietly puts it in his proto sack and carefully walks away. I imagine him sweating profusely the entire time.

Well, seeing the prototypes are Mattel’s property I doubt they are selling them or giving them away. I know when the Four Horsemen Designs Studios started sculpting their Batman/DC 6” lines Mattel wouldn’t even send them any samples of the figures they designed for their studio. They had to find the product at the stores like everyone else...so I can’t see Mattel being so carefree with their prototypes.

Numerous Mattel employees freely admit to owning prototypes. Did they steal them? Of course not. So, theoretically, what would prevent them from giving away or selling the prototypes that they own? This is just one very basic hypothesis that could explain prototypes getting into the hands of the public.

Good point, once the employee has rec'd that item, it is theirs to do what they want. Save it if maybe they are a collector, give it to one of their kids to play with or even sell it.

I’d love to have an E1 Jeff or the MITB 2011 Rey. They should definitely release that Rey with the newer parts they’ve made for him since then
