2007 is my all time favourite year, may be unpopular too, but it's the year i started watching. I started by playing SVR 07 (2006), so that was my first exposure, then the main DVD's in my stores around this time were 2006 PPV's, so while keeping up with 07 WWE, i was catching up through 2006. 2006 is easily my 2nd favourite year of Wrestling, everything just seemed so badass back then. I have to pile on this. A great era and so many great elites that could be made. I’d actually also like an elite 2-pack of Shane vs HBK from SNME 06 That HBK attire is my 2nd most wanted attire of his behind WM23 The Jakks Rumble 06 figure with that attire is one of my all time favourites

If you ask me, the term "Iconic" is subjective, especially for people who changed their attire almost every match like Macho Man, HBK, Warrior, Surfer Sting, etc. but others usually only had one look that people remember and Mattel usually goes for that one look if it's a one and done Elite. Guys like D-Lo Brown, Tatanka, Shamrock may have other looks (Post-NOD D-Lo, Million Dollar Corp. Tatanka, blue Shamrock, etc.) but if they're one and done they'll work well enough on a shelf. But like I said, people may consider an attire iconic because of personal nostalgia or tying that look with a specific moment in their career, maybe a mixture of both.
I'd like to think Mattel lately has been saving highly requested attires for the Ultimate Editions, since the two new flashbacks coming up (hHh trunks Triple H and Screwjob HBK) have been highly requested and I fully expect a proper 1997-98 Undertaker to join that line at some point (Probably after Flair/Lynch).

If we got every "iconic" attire that we wanted right away then we'd all quit collecting and they wouldn't be able to string us along for almost 10 years like they have. Red Ken Shamrock might not be your definitive Ken Shamrock but I bet you bought it and that's what they bank on. Then later they can sell you your dream Shamrock and make double the money. Sometimes this gamble of theirs doesn't pay off (see Hogan, Snuka, RVD, etc.)
