Reports are that Eric made no attempt to learn the job or the talent's names. He'd show up late to meetings and that he was often hard to find to talk to backstage. Supposedly, many of the talents did not like working for him. So the change was made.
Whether or not this is true, I dunno.

Eric himself has said that if he's not really invested in doing something, it ends badly for him. I thought he was a surprising choice for the role in the first place considering just how long he'd been out of the business.

I agree. Heyman I wasn't surprised, but I was somewhat surprised Bischoff got the job. Not surprised Prichard replaced him.

Meltzer said he was fired, heard the business just has passed him too far by. He didn’t know who people were, and really didn’t have ideas or suggestions, and was being very demanding of others when he couldn’t come up with ideas. He just didn’t offer anything of value.

He'll probably show up in a few weeks on AEW Nitro.

You can't really trust anything Meltzer says. He's a Tabloid writer.

He had lightning strike twice with Nitro and the n w o but so much more he touched turned to crap because of his actions. Fans can blame Russo and AOL all they want but Eric got the ball rolling on WCW's death with his being in charge. And I think TNA was doing alright as an alternative to WWE when Eric came along, doing some the same exact things he did in WCW, and immediately the tides were turned against TNA. I can see Vince McMahon wanting him around to silently gloat about winning the Monday night wars and I can also see a mid 1990s WCW fan turned wrestler in WWE as wanting to have Eric around to make some magic happen.

Me quoting my wife from three nights ago. Who knew you lived so close to the grocery store to get that extra milk!

I wanted to see Eric make a WWE appearance on SD, shame it won't happen anymore.

I don’t know. TNA had Eric, Hogan, and Dixie at the top to derail a lot of the positive it had going for it. I can’t saddle all that in Eric’s shoulders alone. And I’ve watched and read enough interviews not conducted by WWE to see that while Eric let too many of the boys call the shots by the time WCW was on top mid ‘99 or so, he had some plans that never got a chance to materialize due to a lot of issues in rotating upper management. You don’t take a brand that is losing that much money and turn it into millions in profit in a couple of years by a fluke. Honestly, I would have liked to see WCW in late 2001 or early 2002 rebooted by Fusient Media with Eric as president before the network decided to drop wrestling altogether and sell to Vince. As for Bischoff’s departure, it’s a shame, but in this day and age business works that fast. If you put a new show out there and the ratings aren’t there in 3, maybe 4 episodes, you can get canceled. It’ll be interesting to hear what was the actual reason for his departure, if we haven’t heard it on speculation already.

I think somebody needs to stick it to Vince McMahon and WWE. Eric Bischoff is the man to do it.

I would like to see Eric Bischoff work with Billy Corgan and NWA. I wouldn't. He would probably tell them "if you want to be big, go to arenas" when the point is to be a throwback by being in a studio.

I was really pulling for WWE but this entire move to Fox has made them look like a joke. Putting MMA guys in the ring, the draft, the storylines. No wonder why AEW is on the rise, they really don’t have competition. I really tried pulling for WWE as long as I could but they are just crap now.
I bet some of y’all are missing the PG era now 😂

I think he did a great job competing with Vince McMahon. I still want to see him involved in wrestling today.

Reports are he had no idea who anyone was. He's openly admitted to not following the product and I'm sure that hurt him. And to be fair, he wasn't involved in the business much in the last ten years. That being said, they should have had him start in another position and work his way into things slowly. That’s not his fault. Why hire someone who speaks publicly about not keeping up with the product. Bottom line is Vince our Bischoff and Heyman in a position where I’d anything failed they would be responsible. He wants a scapegoat when things aren’t working well and will blame everyone but himself. Vince is the problem, he’s always been. I love Prichard and his podcast but that doesn’t fool me into thinking that he was never a yes man because he totally was. So him getting promoted doesn’t do anything for me. It’s hilarious that Vince claims he hates yes men but those seem to be the people he hires all the time.

How long does it really take you to catch up though? Does anyone think Tony Schiavone has been keeping up with everything in AEW? He seems to understand everyone and who everyone's name is and their nicknames and gimmicks.

He does have experience in the business. It's not like they hired Dave from Arby's.
Reports are it was Prichard's idea to hire Eric, they gave it a shot, and things didn't work out. This isn't the first time someone was fired a few months into a job. Doubt it'll be the last. Matter of fact, it's probably happening to someone right now as we speak. P.S.... you don't know Vince personally.
