Part choices / the way we look at our figures

it more depends on playability, I love the Cesaro (black tights) mold, the Ziggler mold is normally the hardest the use and always stiff. Ryback having that body over a bigger one imo helped make it a better figure.

For the most part I don’t typically notice much until they’re pointed out by people on here. Now for the figures that I have been really wanting I can be somewhat extra critical. TNF Savage I recall being disappointed that he wasn’t tan enough, didn’t have a mesh shirt, rope chain necklace should’ve been a choker. There are probably a few other examples along those lines but they tend to be the exception and not the norm for me.

This dates back for me to Jakks' Deluxe Aggression figures. I really didn't like those and it seemed like a rule for guys' DA counterpart to be screaming. Don't like open mouths for whatever reason. Even E71 Cole.
Maybe it's a Freudian thing.

I like to either display or pose my figures in action shots, so I do look for detail in attire, accuracy in face scan and body type. In 10+ years Mattel has amassed a respectable library of parts in their inventory, yet I'm baffled sometimes by their choices, e.g. when was Sting ever the size of Batista? So I do find myself looking at proto-pics and analyzing it right away to figure out if more appropriate parts are needed. This does impact my decision-making as if I think the necessary part switches makes it too expensive then I wont get it. And sometimes Mattel gets it right like RSC Exclusive Andrade torso, then curfuffle it up with his E74 torso....

It's very rare that Mattel produces a retail figure that's perfect in my opinion. They originally marketed themselves as a toy line with attention to scale, which I absolutely loved, wrestlers aren't all the same, no balloon arms/thunder thighs like RAs. But then we see things like Ciampa and Black being too short, or Flair using a shredded torso when more appropriate ones exist. So yes, I do go out of my way to fix it up because when I display my figures I feel satisfied that I've got the best possible representation from Mattel's parts inventory.

I passed on Gargano because of the boots. That's residual annoyance from NXT Rollins, as well, but it was enough for me to wait for the next one.

I'm nitpicky about specific guys if it's something I care more about. UE Triple H should have had leg sleeves and a knee brace. Most of the Elite HBKs should have had knee pads and a different boot mold. It's kind of case-by-case depending on the situation. RSE DX HBK sets off all of my OCD alarms.

I generally don't get too caught up with scale, but when guys are really over or undersized it's usually annoying to me. IRS looks too tall but he's close to being in scale with Bam Bam and Tatanka. Dibiase is way too short in comparison to all three. So stuff like that bothers me. Most of the suited guys are either too short or too tall, unfortunately.

Rhyno's shoulders, KO's arms, Fandago's torso, Rey's giant oven mitts. Again, it just depends on what the situation is and for which guy. I've seen people complain about Rollins' leg size and that kind of thing doesn't bother me. Even Ziggler's torso/arms doesn't bother me a ton at this point. The tank on Jeff Hardy hasn't ever bothered me a ton either because we've seen that same type of thing over-and-over again with the women.

I think the real issue for most of us is that Mattel has the right parts in most cases. It's difficult to digest them not being able to get these combinations right. Especially when they've done it right at times and then they'll switch it up. The knee pads on Razor come to mind since they proceeded to give Hall the leg sleeves. I think those situations in particular frustrate people, myself included. Like how they got Mr Perfect much closer to accurate in the 4-pack and went right back to the L3 mold for his Retrofest figure.

That's interesting. What's your view on the RSC Shawn HBK 92 style elite? I think that's perfect imo along with the fashion police elites which again I was amazed by when I saw them.

I honestly can only think of rhyno being the only one which jumped out at me.

I’ve barely ever noticed or been bothered by this stuff. The scale for me needs to be close enough not perfect. I can tolerate Rollins and gargano being similar size, I couldn’t take Paul bearer being taller than Kane.

I too am on the muscle definition doesn't matter all that much to me (unless, as said, we have a Rhyno on our hands). I hardly ever swap parts other than heads and accessories. Ill pass on a bad face unless I know there's a cheap head swap that can fix it. And ill add knee braces, elbow/knee pads or a handkercheif/yowel/etc where I see it.

I'm just not all that particular about torsos or arms etc. (Except the weird fandango torso). My figs only display too, and I completely understand those who desire best parts for $ spent. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My take would be attire choice and ridiculous moves. Like the way gargano legs are could easily had dbry legs.or why stall on certain attires for long time just to sell the weaker ones first(V-Dream)
