Something tells me Drew isn’t making it to Wrestlemania as Champion I think he will, and he'll be given his Wrestlemania moment that he didn't get last year, but this is the whole problem I have with him. Yeah he has the size, and he's a reliable worker etc, but he just comes across as a bit of an afterthought. I'd bet they still don't really know who is going to face him at Wrestlemania. It wouldn't surprise me if it ended up being some sort of Fatal Four Way with him vs a load of Upper Card Talent. Drew McIntyre vs John Cena is the only other alternative I can feasibly see, since he's beaten Brock Lesnar and Goldberg for the Title.

My thoughts on last night are that as much as I enjoy Edge I am not too pleased he won. He's already accomplished so much and I feel that spot could've gone to someone whose career would've benefited from the win. Edge could easily be worked into the title picture without the Rumble win. I felt the same way when Orton won a few years ago too.

In a shocker Bryan Alvarez loved both rumbles and agreed with both winners.

Ages of Royal Rumble participants. 53.8 - Kane 47.3 - Edge 47.2 - Christian 46.6 - The Hurricane 46.1 - Rey Mysterio 44.5 - Bobby Lashley 43.7 - AJ Styles 43.4 - Jeff Hardy 43.0 - Sheamus 41.9 - Carlito 41.3 - John Morrison 40.9 - Shinsuke Nakamura 40.8 - Randy Orton 40.5 - Dolph Ziggler 40.3 - The Miz 40.1 - Cesaro 39.7 - Daniel Bryan 38.4 - Damian Priest 37.4 - Braun Strowman 36.6 - Sami Zayn 36.4 - King Corbin 35.0 - Matt Riddle 34.9 - Big E 34.9 - Mustafa Ali 34.7 - Seth Rollins 34.4 - Xavier Woods 33.2 - Elias 32.3 - Ricochet 29.1 - Otis 23.8 - Dominik Mysterio
Even if you remove the part-timers and surprise entrants, there were 11 guys over 40 and only 2 guys under 30. Not exactly preparing for the future and I dont see a John Cena or Brock Lesnar coming up in NXT anytime soon.

Enjoyed the show very much.
I loved the women's Rumble. So happy that Bianca won. I was also very pleased that the final two were Bianca and Rhea. Great moments throughout, nice mix of the veterans and the new stars.
The Last Man Standing match was excellent. It was a PG-era war. Owens is incredible. I wish the handcuff stuff at the end was a bit cleaner, but it didn't hurt the match for me.
The men's Rumble was great. I am very pleased with Edge's win. The emotion shown from Edge after his win and especially when Christian came out to compete was fantastic. Good showings by Damian Priest, Riddle, and Bryan.

Good show overall. Drew/Goldberg was mercifully short, both Rumbles were good for me even with a few weird moments. I'd have had Rhea win though. I seriously couldn't understand a word that Bianca said after she won. Nice to see real emotion, but the interview was unintelligible. The men's Rumble was clearly a coming out party for Damien Priest. Christian was a very pleasant and heartwarming surprise. I was under the impression that one bad hit could lead to scrambled eggs, Trent Green style, but maybe he's healthier than we've been led to believe. (I mean, there was zero physicality in that 'match' with Orton a few months back) I'm kind of surprised that after resting for over an hour, and then hitting an RKO that Orton was dispatched so easily. The ending went how I expected (first two, final two), but I'd have put money on Orton coming within inches of either winning or maiming Edge before some Kabukiish antics from the Fiend sealing it for Edge.
The big takeaway for me was the LMS match, and how badly I feel for both guys by the botched ending. I remember as I was watching the match thinking that this would be one of the few matches of this era that will be talked about for years as one of the greats...then the ending ruined the entire match. They send out another ref to count, who then has to stop counting for no reason when Reigns can't get out of the cuffs. Then, after an eternity of just standing there like a dope as Reigns tries to free himself, Owens immediately gets caught in the guillotine for the finish. Next time, don't bother with the key. Just bring out bolt cutters for the sure thing. That match was awesome up to that point, but completely ruined by the ending. Nevertheless, Reigns is an amazing heel. He doesn't even really need Heyman, and that's about the highest praise I can give.
What the hell happened to Keith Lee? Did he test positive, or is he still in Performance Center purgatory? I mean, I'm not a fan really, but considering how he was booked, and how he just kind of disappeared seems weird.

We assume he tested positive, Mia Yim found out she tested positive on Friday. For what it’s worth Jey USO and Apollo Crews were also announced for the rumble and neither were seen Friday on Smackdown or in the rumble.

If they would slow the overall pace of matches down and cut out the risky stuff that isn’t getting reactions anymore, guys could have longer careers like they used to. I’m glad they just focused on doing something we would actually like. Edge. The overall sentimental favorite of the public won. I’m happy as a clam with that.

WWE is in a weird spot where half the roster is "old guys" who are still talented, and still have a LOT left in the tank...while the other half is "young talent" who are trying to find their way through a sea of 50/50 booking, start/stop pushes, and really directionless pointless boring storylines. That being said, professional wrestling is about STORIES and the story they are telling with Edge...who is one of the greatest to ever do it whether you like him or not, is ing awesome.

Edge is 100% going the distance. He will enter at 1 and win the entire thing. Nice.

I liked it, I just hated the piped in crowd. Like, I get it. It just... Isn't that fun to me with no crowd to react to all the surprises etc. Overall, good crappal.

I am all for new blood but the last 15 or 20 minutes show exactly why older talent are still extremely relevant if booked correctly. Granted it was a Rumble and there's a certain way you have to 'pretend' to be down to make it any good but it's night and day watching some of the now-Legends compared to some of the younger talent. The second you get eyes on poorly choreographed moves or horrible selling it's a complete buzzkill. That happened significantly less with Rey, Edge, Christian, AJ, Sheamus, Bryan, even Big E and Dolph in the ring. It actually felt like wrestling used to feel, no RUSHING, no over-emphasis on character that just makes everyone constantly look like a cartoon, it made the WWE camera cuts and zooms actually tolerable (though I can't BELIEVE they missed the angle on the double spear to Strowman).
I want things to feel fresh and new and better as much as the next guy but you can't do it by making the older talent, who look so much better than the newer talent in almost every way, sit on the sidelines and take significant losses constantly. Look what it's doing to Jeff Hardy, he could actually be booked as a main event player and they're wasting it. Throwing someone to the top who has no longevity or appeal, as much as we might like them, out of the blue, isn't going to work. It has barely worked in the past. Really this all just comes down to booking and you could tell by the end of the Rumble match that they had a way easier time booking veterans with some history look strong than they do with newer guys and wrestling has kind of backed itself into this corner.
All that said if Christian and Edge are wrestling I am watching! The big guy with AJ looked awesome, too. That dude is a beast.

I gave it a shot and watched for the first time in ages as the rumble has always been a favourite and although there was some good moments like Carlito and Christian I agree with the majority here. Its was like watching something from 2010 but Edges win does nothing for me and its wasnt needed.
It's funny how much vince buries and slates WCW to this day but literally is booking the same as WCW did by pushing old talent as they have no faith in the younger talent (like austin, cactus and later eddie, jericho etc - look how wrong WCW was once the WWF got their hands on them and gave them the chance they deserved)
Yes they gave a win to Bianca and not charlotte surprisingly but the amount of older talent relied on to draw numbers shows that have to give the new guys more chances, solid pushes and better booking if they are ever gonna get a chance to shine and develop.

Don't watch the product now from one year to the next, but I watched the rumble as I hadn't seen any spoilers and it had its moments. For a lapsed fan like me, seeing Edge win and Christian/Carlito make their returns was really cool. The Orton thing at the end you could see from a mile away but it played well because Edge still managed to win. But holy crapis the talent gap between the established guys and these younger guys I've never heard of before. Christian/Edge/Orton/Styles/Sheamus/Dolph/Carlito/Bryan were wrestling circles around what the others were doing. All these flippy guys coming up are so ing sloppy and lacking any charisma or star appeal. Not looking good at all for in a few years time.

I totally forgot about Keith Lee but I feel like he was supposed to win but his absence forced an audible and that’s why we got the feel good Edge win.

Yeah I’m all for pushing new guys but sometimes there are stories ready to be told and that’s what this Edge win was. His Ironman run and the Orton stuff and Christian’s return all wrapped up in a perfect story and I wasn’t at all upset about him winning.
