Remember when if you wanted to know what figures were coming up, you either needed to read a magazine or look at the back of a figure card
Remember when those said figure cards lied constantly and showed prototypes of figures we never got
Remember when the Draft cards mocked us for actually wanting Stasiak and Terri figures?
Remember when you could buy MOC LJN figures on secondary for under a bill?
Remember when you could actually find figures in stores dedicated for toys?
REMEMBER WHEN THERE *WERE* STORES DEDICATED TO TOYS...

Member when doing customs was rare? this site used to have soooo many customizers. i was active from 2003ish to 2008 doing customs on here. During that time period if youd didnt sculpt something or atleast do a full body paint job then it wasnt considered a custom. Also if you posted a custom that wasnt very good you got death threats. i remember being told to kill myself because i didnt do a full paint job and a full head sculpt lol

Also if you posted a custom that wasnt very good you got death threats. i remember being told to kill myself because i didnt do a full paint job and a full head sculpt lol Not just wrestling figures, mind you. I was part of a buffy forum in the early 2000's that had such a massive custom community, that people would shell a hundred for a OK commission, hundreds for a good one, and most of the people who were on the board were on it for that thread. There were even custom competitions every month, with a year end awards as well.
Customs are not a new thing to this past decade. People have been making customs pretty much as long as there have been figures. My first WWE Custom was a Mighty Molly somewhere around 2002. And, while they've gotten somewhat better over time, that's not necessarily because of the work put in as much as the fact that more and more companies are realizing that Customizing is a big part of the hobby, and making parts reasonably interchangeable in a way that brings down their costs, while improving the desirability of the figures. Plus, the available technology has progressed to include 3D printed heads with is beyond a gamechanger. It completely revolutionized the hobby.
