Race will defiantly be hard to top in price, but rarer should equal worth more, but like I said hard to top races value My question is what’s the deal with this figure? is this a 2nd wave variant? If so why is it being shipped with the first wave and in such small quantities and only in some places? I have too many questions about this figure but glad I got it IMO it’s more about why/how it’s rare. Like, this Kane figure is only a secondary head that comes with the figure that isn’t the main selling point of the figure. Harley Race, the entirety of the figure is what people want. That’s how I look it. Hundreds of dollars, hypothetically, for a painted on goatee sounds wildly insane to me. Oh I agree, to be honest, the value of this variant will depend on the non variant, and if the value and rarity depends on the non variant it’s looking good This Kane seems to be well stocked, but still having tons of people looking for it tho, eBay seems to be flooded, seems like there is at least 5 Kane’s in each shipper, but Kane always sells well and every Kane elite I know of is selling well above retail, I would imagine this would be the case with this figure as well after it’s long gone from retail I think race is so sought after is because of the distribution of the series, I look at it this way, imagine race was released in the main elite line, and Kane was released in the same elite line, wide spread, target, Walmart, etc etc, I still think Kane would out sell race What’s my point? I don’t have the Harley race figure, it looks like a cool figure, but honestly if I passed by it in the main elite line on a shelf, I’d pass, Kane, I’d never pass on

No interest at all. Great looking figure though.

I liked this update and I was going to get this figure. The only issue is I already have the original ringside version. It would be awesome to get a revised version with a new torso and molded detail. The straps and belts look really cheap when they’re painted. I can’t for one believe Mattel when they said they couldn’t mold it. Ministry taker has molded details on his torso too. Another thing I’d like to see is a molded mask because it’d capture the detail better imo. The mask piece is missing some detail.

Glad you got it. Good for you. It always feels great when you find that one elusive figure you really want.
Personally, I am very curious about the nature of this fig/variant. Is it a running change? Are the ones with the goatee errors released mistakenly? Did someone at Mattel do this intentionally to drive up the hype on the DOD figures?
I wonder if we'll ever know. It is fascinating to see though, especially how few of them appear to be out there. With this being the hardest figure (it appears) to get from the entire DOD set, on top of having a variant, I can see these commanding premium prices in the future - as long as they remain "rare". If it turns out it's a running change that half of all the released figures have this, then it probably won't be worth as much.

Seeing this I’m happy mine doesn’t have the painted on goatee....I get the concept of it maybe trying to better capture his look with the mask on but it’s still weird looking because he never had the goatee after he unmasked in 03....being a Moc collector, mine without the facial hair definitely works better for me

Very cool. Mattel has not said officially what has happened with this Kane but for sure that facial hair one is definitely limited but numbers are not currently known. Congratulations.
