it is time we have this very important discussion. do you return your cart when finished and is the shopping cart the ultimate litmus test on whether a person is a good member of society?

Always return mine to a corral, or the building if the wranglers have already collected them for the night. If loose carts are around, I get those too.
One of my peeves in our dearly departed thread.

I don't use a shopping cart. I carry everything in my arms like a real man should.

I don't remember ever being in a situation where there wasn't an outdoor corral but if I had to walk it in I wouldn't care.
I don't get why some people have this entitlement over not wanting to spend 5 mintues taking one minor extra step. It's the same with people that litter because they are too lazy to find a garbage can and god forbid they hold onto their own garbage.

Most of the time...Just depends on the location of the return rack....
The better question I feel is are you one of those that drives around a parking lot for 10 minutes "looking for a better spot" or do you just pull in and park & go

The only time I don't is if I have my kid with me and the return isn't within reasonable distance of the car. It took one walk too far after buckling him in for someone to accuse me of leaving him there the whole time I was shopping and I don't need that sort of negativity in my life.

If they have the corrals in the lot I’ll return them. If not I will leave them with the rest in the lot.

Always. I worked in a grocery store for years, and while I normally was running around the deli and bakery area; however, occasionally I'd get asked to run carts if a cashier didn't show or they only scheduled older cashiers. And we didn't have one of those magnet things that you see at big chain stores and Walmarts and stuff. Had to wrangle them the old fashioned way.
For that reason, no matter where I'm parked, I will always walk my cart back into the store or put it in the corral against the outside wall, whatever that store has.
