While I’m not sitting here like “OMG Punk return incoming” I do think it’s a good step for both parties.
While wrestler x or wrestler y may be backstage from time to time, said wrestlers didn’t leave on horrible terms and get their letter of termination on their wedding day.
Overall, this is a positive thing. Let people be intrigued.

I see this as he went to make amends with some folks (Miz, triple H) and then when the show was about to start they asked him to leave because he works somewhere else.

I think this is an indication that he's not as opposed to returning to WWE as he was a while ago, but I don't think it's going to happen any soon. Though, the news that he made amends with Triple H and The Miz could end up being very significant if he does eventually go back to WWE. Imagine this event ends up being the catalyst for his return? That would be a neat piece of trivia.
I wouldn't be opposed to him in WWE. He's a genuine star and everyone knows it so I'm sure WWE is not opposed to bringing him back. What I would find funny in that scenario however is the idea that after all the hoops AEW has jumped through to appease the Punk situation, he just leaves at the first opportunity, though I don't see that happening.
